One bonus of Garmin is you can reach and actually speak with their support team. Good luck reaching someone at Bushnell.

I’ve not had the need to call either so far so I can’t really comment

One further feature, if you’re already in the Garmin ecosystem. Because the Z30 passes the flag location to your watch, if you are also using the Garmin C10 sensors (which I do) it can then track your putting data properly to indicate your putting percentages based on how many putts it takes you from a particular distance

I had no idea about that’s, but if you’re using th CT10’s, that’s a great new and unique feature!

@@GolfGuyReviews typically when you have the C10 sensor on your putter you have to manually adjust the flag on your watch (I have the S70) in order to get the putting data, but because the Z30 automatically updates the flag location you’re good to go. Also, the fact that you only have to sight the flag once during the hole is a very underrated feature. I find I don’t forget my rangefinder on the cart anymore because I sight the flag once on the 18th hole and then immediately put the finder in my bag because I don’t need it anymore on that hole, it works great!

The distances on the left hand side of the display aren't Front edge and Back edge of the green in the same way as any GPS device has, they are how far ON from the front and how far OFF of the back that the flag is. e.g. 5 & 20 = a tight front pin, 12 & 14 = middle, 35 & 10 = long green and pin on back 1/4 etc. Often courses don't have pin sheets or even colour coded flags, that's why I bought the Z30, not for the same data that I can get from my S70. Else the Z30 would really not be any different to any other range finder. Thanks for the review though.

Thanks for sharing. After rewatching I think I could have done a better job of highlighting that point, I covered it too briefly 👍

I just use a basic watch, thats good enough for me, I really am not good enough to dial it down to exact distance a good enough distance to front middle and back on my watch does me.

It seems that even though the Bluetooth takes a few seconds to connect to the watch, you could do this while a buddy is playing their shot, at a distance of 200-300 yds, and because the yardage is transferred to the watch, not have to take the range again for that hole...whereas with the Bushnell (which I have), one might have to "shoot" the range several times for the same hole...after each shot, for instance. Just a thought...Thanks for this review...

Thanks Ed, good points 👍 still requires golfers to use the app or have a compatible Garmin gps though, which I think will limit the number who want to shell out the money for this rangefinder.

@@GolfGuyReviews Agreed...I have the Garmin watch and the app, but already have the Bushnell rangefinder...so, that's enough info about how far the flag is...now to be able to hit the ball the correct distance and direction!

Why did you review the older model vs the Z82?

The Z30 is brand new, only game out a few weeks ago. The Z82 has been out for a few years now
