The archangel’s voice! This man was full of the Holy Spirit. He’s probably teaching the angels how to sing. You can learn more about God in this man’s lyrics than they teach you in most churches.

None like him. Garnet Silk, truly is an epitome of a complete reggae artist, spiritually-inclined with an unmatched golden voice. Listening to his music widens one's horizon in all spheres of human development. Nuff respect to this angel of God. I was fondly called by his name, when I completed high school during my youthful days and decided to take music as my way to voice out my frustration over a corrupted system and society, then in my home country -where whom you know was the measurement card to be given any employment opportunity. Though, my music career was short-lived as I did not get any kind of coaching, mentoring and guidance. May his gentle soul continue to rest in the highest chambers of paradise, and that of his late loving mother.

That Album 100 % Silk I still listen too after 2 decades and many of his other songs..Yes!! No pretension here but proud I was one of the many true fans from that time That honestly thought he might been the second coming of Bob Marley,You know one of our own from our generation for all true reggae fans...Your body isn't here anymore Brother! But your exactly what we need today in many of our youths.... An artist with roots, wisdom and vision.. Fuck it! I can goe on for a long time .. No disrespect intended, but Rasta is Rasta and Jamaican is Jamaican. Rastafarians were fought down, killed, and hunted by the some Jamaicans. Jamaicans from all sorts and backgrounds, but nevertheless Jamaican, gave the Rastaman hell. He in turned gave them Heaven. I should know, for I am that Rastaman who lived thru and saw and experienced the whole drama. So give Respect where it is due. No Rastaman no so called Jamaican vibe that has been promoted all over the world. Rastafari Live. And Respect to All Jamaicans Still. for there were sympathizers. Lets just keep it factual. OneLove

I for one am glad that you all appreciate Garnett. But as a Neighbor of mine once told I, Culture sings Jamaican Street. That's why I think you all are comparing Garnett to Bob. There's also Luciano who I think is from the same parish as Garnett. We all have our preferences in singers, as it is said the best instrument is the human voice and we will all have our preferences.Sugar Minott was mentioned earlier and I think Dennis Brown too. Then there are the rappers and the dancehall style singers. hetep

It should be mandatory that we honor the Archangel himself Mr. Garnet Silk! The Government has has honored many artiste over the years some more deserving than others, and there is no doubt in my mind that Garnet should be recognized by the Industry/Government. Let us call on Tony Rebel (now a huge corporate voice who was like a big brother to Garnet, who was the big draw for the first ever rebel salute that people stayed out in the rain to see Silk) Yasus Afari ( Garnet's Mentor in Rastafari) and all his friends who were around him when he was the biggest artiste locally, before his untimely passing, to push the agenda to have this man honored properly for his incomparable contribution to our music Industry. He had biggest impact of any artiste in such a short time. What Garnet did, took Bob, D Brown, Peter Tosh etc. years in the business to do. Garnet changed the trajectory of the music at a time when it was being overrun by the sex, guns, and drug talk, he made it fashionable again to sing of righteousness and give praises, spawning a huge change where so many followed (Buju, Capleton, Luciano, and many, many more, including the slew of those that tried to copy his sound). Every big artiste wanted to be on a track with Garnet, even the biggest gun toting, or slackness artiste, because he was the new light and they all saw it. The most genuinely spiritual artiste I've ever seen. Humility and sincerity flowed from Garnet when he sang and spoke of love and God. Let's petition to honor this Legend, my favourite artiste of all times. Archangel Silk

love this clip! Garnet, is absolutely the best in my book, bar none! Anyone else placed above him is strictly based on longevity of career, international acclaim and accolades. This brother's impact in such a short time was immense, I don't think the music truly recovered from the loss of Garnet, based on the direction it was going with him as the figurehead influencing so many we lift up today to the faith, and making positive music fashionable again . He left a void that no one has been able to fill to this day. Garnet had it all, He cold sing any genre of music if he chose to, with that emotive, unique, booming, vibrato heavy voice. Most of all, his humility and spirituality shone through like no other, before or after him. The absolute best!
