Thanks for watching - the Garrett ATX was field tested alongside the Minelab GPX5000 in the WA Goldfields. The ATX with the stock DD coil will exceed the GPX5000 on low conductivity targets (i.e. small gold) and match or exceed it on deeper targets - with similar coil setups. More ATX videos coming soon. Warren - with all this talent - should should try out for X-Factor or Australia's Got Talent. If they had a category for "Metal Detector Setup Video" - this would have to be in the grand final for sure. I don't own one of these yet...but after gluing myself to this video - I am more than confidant I could set it up and be getting swing time ...in no time. Thanks for putting this up and for making it easy to follow. Cheers GL & HH Ian.

Thanks for watching John - the ATX is a Pulse Induction machine designed for the goldfields - as with all Pulse machines, there is no target ID or depth indication so an LCD screen would be of no use. Pulse Induction machines are all raw power and pretty much 'dig everything' - that is how they are designed. The Etrac is VLF detector which is designed for a completely different purpose. HH mate! Thanks for watching and commenting - if you are hoping to detect fine gold chain - which as you would know is notoriously difficult due to its low conductivity - you would be best served with the optional 8" monoloop coil rather than the DD. The ATX operates very smoothly in both salt and ironstone conditions so that smooth stable threshold maximises your chances of detecting fine targets such as gold chain. HH mate! Warren.

What an awesome machine. Great video Warren. Your videos are always easy to watch and understand. I can't wait to get one. I have found just under an ounce in 10 months of owning an AT Gold and I love my machine but I can see that the ATX would be a huge upgrade. How does it compare to the Infinium? Two notes of interest about the clip. Remember to loosen the arm rest before swiveling the coil to open or retract it. The second is to ensure that the control panel faces up towards the handle of the case. If not it will rest on the bottom and be much less protected than if it was in the other way.

Just bought the atx. I am new to fosicking. When I go to the gold fields just west of Warrick. Do I just serch anywhere or do I need to look a particular land feature. For example should I only serch low land next to non running creaks and the creaks themselves. Or is up hi on the hill tops just as good. Should I look for their to ber rocky ground or is strait dirt ok. This will be a gread help. I did find some very thin flakes of rust about a foot deep and a peice of shot gun shot. So I think I got it all set up ok.. thanks for putting up the great videos. Also I dont understand the non motion mode
@NQExplorers
10 жыл бұрын
G'day mate - congratulation on the new ATX! If you are fossicking for gold in you area, a good place to start is the old workings - have a look where the 'old timers' were getting gold, check the old mullock heaps and the gullies draining the old workings. Look for 'shallow' ground where the bedrock isn't far under the surface, this will vary with local geography. You can even pan the creeks for 'colour' to make sure you are on the right track. Non-Motion mode will give you more depth but you will need to 'Retune' regularly (depending on local mineralization). Best to do a lot of hours in Motion mode first. Make sure you are properly ground balanced, start with the Ground Track off if the ground is quiet, and run the sensitivity as high as practical (10 or 11). Best of luck and Happy Prospecting! Warren.

Warren, Just a question of the Iron discrimination function, will this machine tell you the targets such as rusty old nails, and scrap steel and iron bolts. Does Iron function work on brass objects? Thanks Dave
@NQExplorers
9 жыл бұрын
David Decatur Thanks for your query David. The iron discrimination function will only identify ferrous targets. Generally, brass and targets of high conductivity will give a low-hi (although this depends on size and other factors), gold and lead will give a hi-low (once again depends on size and conductivity). Very large ferrous items will probably not iron check due to their sheer size and the way they present to PI detectors (this would include large steel items and bolts etc). Smaller iron, such as old timers rubbish, will give you the iron 'grunt' when checked. This is a very conservative feature as you really need to investigate all targets when prospecting. Don't forget the Iron Check only works with the DD coil. As with all PI detectors, the ATX can't really 'discriminate' as such - nothing like a VLF can, although with time you will learn that there are subtle differences in target responses with the ATX. Hope this helps mate. Happy Fossicking! Warren.

Hi Warren great vid you won me with Garret over minelab 7k. Q when setting frequency should the coil be flat on ground? Thanks Pat
@NQExplorers
6 жыл бұрын
Patrick Skahill Thanks for your comment Patrick, for the frequency scan there is no need to have the coil flat to the ground. It’s actually scanning for EMI, so the more it ‘hears’, the better, for quiet operation. Cheers mate. Warren.

NQExplorers are yes electrical transmitting interference got it . Think i indulge in to many of your great video's and didn't give myself much time to process all info. Been looking at dectectors on an off for few year and thought minelab was the go and didn't look at the ATX much thinking it was more relic hunter . But has won and shock me on it's smove and brilliant performance cos I'm only interested in golden triangle. And didn't want a rocket scientist detector. Q. Will the ATX auto ground balance as you move along after setting initial first ground balance starting new patch. Cheers thanks Warren
@NQExplorers
6 жыл бұрын
Patrick Skahill Ground balance won’t change automatically, I believe you are referring to ‘tracking’ which can be set to slow, medium or fast on ATX. I tend not to use it and just ground balance again if the threshold becomes noisy. ATX is very good in the Golden Triangle. Good luck!

All looks good.. However the reports of this machine handling the WA conditions for finding gold in hot areas on hot ground are only hearsay. NOT ONE review I have read yet is first hand from some that actually owns one in WA and used it in WA goldfields. Only comments of "this machine has been tested in WA against a gpx5000 on undisturbed hot ground". are not good enough for me at this stage. I like all the positive benefits this machine says it offers and the price, but until an independent owner of an ATX actually in WA, not connected to a seller can show it actually does what it is designed for the Gpx5000 is still top dog by a country mile.
@NQExplorers

Thanks for watching Dean and for your thoughts. I can tell you that the ATX works brilliantly in WA. I personally used it on The Island at Lake Austin. Thats about as tough as it gets in WA. I was able to get stable operation - and find targets (only lead & old timers rubbish unfortunately) on the ironstone 'beach' and also on the salt lake itself by tweaking tracking and sensitivity. The machine is unaffected by atmospherics and high ambient temperatures, unlike other PI machines. Drop in and see Jamie at the Prospector's Patch and have a swing for yourself. Happy Prospecting mate! Warren.
