@@justmeinthislife7639 I think she was one of the ones involved in the whole situation where people who worked for H+ were riding underweight/lame horses at an auction, despite working for H+ and advocating against all of the abuse and trauma that comes with horses being put through auction. They weren't there to save horses, they were working with the auctioners. They still chose to do it, and Tawnee and co chose to part ways because that goes against their mission to save horses since those horses shouldn't have been ridden or sold in that condition.

Garrick, that old cowboy saying is so true isn't it. No Foot, No Horse!! I love how much time you take with each animal, and are constantly talking to them. I have a farrier that is as good as you are. He is worth his weight in gold with my baby horses. I deliver 4 a year for responsible Breeders. And I even helped deliver an Arab mares first foal this year that I helped rescue from an auction. I was on a 3 way call with my friend at the auction, and a responsible Arab breeder I have delivered for before. She was in such bad shape, not even the kill buyers wanted her, so we got her for $50 CDN. The breeder didn't have the full 50 bucks, she only had 25, so I kicked in the other 25 bucks. It took us 18 months to get her weight up and get her feet and everything back to health. I sold my portion of her to the breeder. But because I had been training her, she paid me fees for that. She WAS MICROCHIPPED!! So she traced the original owner and had them charged with 1. Failure to Provide Vet Care 2. Failure to provide adequate feed and water 3. Animal Cruelty and 4. Vet and Farrier bills, and I think there were 2 or 3 other charges that were proven by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as well. I testified in court, as did the girl who did the purchase on our behalf. And the case was heard in the Supreme Court of Canada by the Right Honorable Judge Michael Moldaver. The original owner was found guilty of all charges. Banned for life from ever owning any 4 legged, 3 legged or 2 legged pet. Judge Moldaver told the defendant that when he got out of jail in 50 years, which is the minimum he must serve, he is only ever allowed to own fish. And the defendant comes from a very affluent, (rich), family. So he was also ordered to repay all the court costs, the vet costs and the Farrier costs. So his family approached the new owner, my girlfriend, and they settled on a cost of $50,000 CDN. Of that I received my $25 dollars back, plus an extra $3,000 to continue working with the owner to help the horse get over some issues it still has. She and her baby, Miracle, who was born Christmas Eve Morning at 248 am are doing very, very very well. The foal has even had its feet done already, and stood quiet, handed each foot up when asked, and gave the Farrier zero issues!! She leads well, on and off a two horse or a 4 horse with no problem away from mom!! So proud of both Ailish and Miracle!! But it wouldn't be possible without dedicated farriers like mine and yourself. Who actually take the time, give them breaks if they need it, and always stay in the natural range of motion of the legs. So, from this trainer to you Garrick, you are an important member of this team, just as Tawnee is and Doc is. So thank you for what you do!! From a former Paramedic in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Hoping you know that mules have less vertebrae than horses. There is a spot in saddle-pads that should be cut out so no pressure is placed in a certain area. I am no expert, you will need to do some research on this, but it is true. The risk is they will lose neurological control of their back legs if this is not done. I did work at a cattle ranch/mule rescue for a time while in Nevada. I admire hugely all you do for our 4 legged friends. Thanx!

It would be nice to see from start to end of each horse, not just bits and pieces. We’ll probably never see the horses featured on this video again. Don’t know why that is?
@humaneleaguelancPA
2 жыл бұрын
@@lazydaisy7336 It would be wonderful if they could do that but I don't think it is realistic. I think they would need more staff because that would be a Ton of Work! The turnover is probably too quick in many cases to do in-depth video's on each horse from start to finish. The mission and goal I am guessing, would be to save and adopt as many horses, mules, ponies as possible. And in order to do that; Fundraising is crucial. Focusing on the auction process, the state and condition of the horses is imperative so the general public can see how needed this organization is. Just my opinion.

Animals have their own mind and temperment. If it was animal aggressive, that doesn't sound to me like human error. For all we know, it's the reason that mule ended up at the auction to begin with. If they gave it several months, I'm willing to bet they tried all they could before surrendering the mule back to them.

@@albatraozgirl In my 70 plus years of equine handling it is ALWAYS human error. When I write about my experience with equine family it will all make sense. The average person knows nothing about the animals in their lives. Average pet owners are in a hurry, don't want to think too much and fancy themselves as " the boss" instead of being a partner. I've had to re-school many horses and dogs because of human hubris. At the age of 83, I'm sick of the two legged plague on the planet.
