It’s fine you’re excited but lots of people can play stuff Gary could not and vice versa. He mastered his instrument for his purpose. “Better” is meaningless term in music unless you can define better at what and it’s something fairly quantifiable you’re talking about. And no, “better at guitar” is not a meaningful answer. But it’s fine that you’re excited about the playing he was a great musician.

I love reading the comments of people whop clearly don't know what they are talking about. First off...Gary was likely the "best" all round guitar player, of the past 45-50 years. He could play circles around all the greats. He also took much inspiration from the greats, Gallagher,Clapton, Green, Beck, Kossoff, Hendrix probably Page as well and countless others. What makes Gary brilliant is that he was able to draw on those influences and blend that with his own style (attack, aggression, vibrato, tone) and make truly incredible music whether it was rock or blues. He get's crap from many people here on YT for being a wanna be. Are you serious? Yes, please let's compare him to SRV or Hendrix one more time understanding of course that there really isn't a comparison to be made as both SRV & GM are channeling very different schools of the blues. In a race I'd call it dead even but for me Texas Strut proves to me Gary was equally versed in the Texas blues, whereas I don't hear much of the Briitish blues in SRV aside from VooDoo Chile..thats not I dig, but rather I just don't hear it. In fact..Still Got The Blues record proves that GM could really delve into any vain of the blues you could come up with. That said and anyone who is a guitarist will likely support this statement, Gary..surpassed all of the greats, all of his influences in all aspects of his playing and composition. It is an incredible body of work. Had he ever gotten support or publicity here in the states back in the 80s he would have been formidable opposition to EVH. Had Randy Rhodes not died he too would have pushed the almighty EVH out of the spotlight to some degree. Gary & Randy were both more advanced than the rest of the field. In their absence from earth we are still realizing just how brilliant GM, SRV & RR were. There is no more comparison. Gary took what all the masters had done before and by incorporating it into his style elevated it all into another sphere. Even Joe Bonamassa as great as he is can't rival this.

OBR, thanks for posting. What an incredible show that was. You know, all the great ones have something that the others didn't. Jeff Beck, SRV, EVH. Gary Moore was one of those. His tone, vibrato. his speed, dynamics. All the hallmarks of a nutritious breakfast for a generational badass like Gary Moore. His greatness is undeniable and he followed his muse at the expense of fame. It was no secret that he didn't like playing in the states. I hear he lost a lot of equipment to theft. And I think there were some other British guitar players that coveted that Les Paul that Peter sold him for next to nothing and that rubbed them the wrong way. But Gary could not be denied. When he played the solo on "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" with George Harrison, he kicked down the door. Every guitar player has a favorite player that makes you say, man I wish I could play like that. There are so many players that I absolutely love, but Gary is my guy. God Bless.

Peter Green exhibits a direct connection between his heart, hands his fingers and a higher power. Peter was great to Gary because he saw the talent. Peter was and is the greatest white Blues guitarist ever. Gary understood that Peter was the one white guitarist that lived the pain of the Blues. I love Gary's playing and tribute to Peter. We all know Gary is playing "Greeny" which was gifted to Gary. Gary was to return the guitar if Peter asked for it back, Gary privately told a friend that Peter will never get the guitar back even if he requested it back. Gary did not possess the lack of ego and giving of The Green God. We can still enjoy his playing even though he did not possess the gift of singing or song writing that Peter possessed. Guitarist that play Peter's music are blessed with some of the best tunes to reach a higher level.

It's so depressing to think about this guitar being owned by Kirk Hammit

Although it's impossible to emulate Peter Green for his purity, passion & feeling for the blues ( prior to his fateful trip to Germany...) I feel that Gary is sincerely paying his respect & admiration for the man who really proved that a white boy could capture the essence of this music. He will never be Peter & acknowledges the fact but he comes as close as he can. Blues is about the feeling that can be generated thru voice & guitar & Gary plays his heart out here. His singing ain't too bad either. Senseless to compare one to another. Each has their own contribution to make...

This is maybe his best gig. It really meant something to him and, where he could be a bit over the top sometimes in concert (by his own admission), here he is restrained and tasteful, and plays and sings with real feeling. It also helps that the band is magnificent.

Very interesting To watch and listen this kind of virtuous... If u are not dead, i am sure this MUST let you feel something... Gary is Master of his sound, and makes everything sutch great, effordles, sometimes Very simple and also handles his gear, and really makes guitar To scream, and everytimes he also is Master of feedback, and have great sense of melody, and notes that are not not played... He performs always like In the edge, i mean he seems not To be afraid of little precense of danger... MUST TO LOVE this kind of player.... GENIUS is he surely...
