Best guitarist? The best anything is a temporary state of affairs at best. Best accompanist? Could he have backed Ella better than Joe Pass? Recorded all four Bach Lute Suites and more setting a bar at 35 in '75 which still stands? John Williams did. Perhaps he too could have essentially sight read his way through Arnold Schoenberg's Serenade the way Johnny Smith did had he been around in 1949. But then, no one else could. Did he invent a new language as Alan Holdsworth has? Could he entertain your girlfriend better than you ever did like Tommy Emmanuel could? Swing like Wes or George? String 16ths together as seamlessly as Martino and still phrase? Play anything as beautifully and thoughtfully as Ted Greene once did? Could he follow the force of nature that was Jimi? Does the name Lenny Breau mean anything to you? Jim Hall, Tal Farlow, Jimmy Raney, Baden Powell, Jack Wlkins? Segovia, ever hear his name or that of Julian Bream? Does Robben Ford ring a bell, 'cause I'm sure he rang Gary's more than a few times. How do you spell Tosin Abasi? There are opinions and then there are the educated variety. Get busy. Every bar in Nashville has a guy beyond this level. Check out Robert Mitchell & JD Simo. Then there are these three kids: Antoine Boyer, Pasquale Grasso and Julian Lage. Sure, Hostess makes some nice cakes, or so it seems when you're 12, but get yourself to a real bakery, jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Not a British Invasion song. The Easybeats were an Australian group. Their original was fantastic. This was a great version. Not a cover, because they changed things.
