I was vegan for years, the switch to an entirely WFPB diet for my health gave me really bad gas for months. I realized that I was eating way too many veggies and not enough carbs. When I added a lot more potatoes and whole grains back into my diet the gas almost stopped entirely. It's made such a big difference.

Been vegetarian for years and now vegan. My breakthrough was understanding the concepts in the book Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. The benefits to soaking and sprouting. I have reduced all bloating and gas symptoms and am able to eat foods I needed to avoid, by embracing soaking nuts, grains, legumes in 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar to 4 cups water overnight. Or alternatively purchase sprouted grains which gives you the same benefits of reducing the inflammatories to sensitive guts.

When I first went vegan, I had so much gas, sometimes painful. After about 6 months it went away, as my body gut healed. One thing I did that probably made it worse was jump right in with huge portions of raw veggies, fruit, and legumes. Maybe if I had eased into a high fibre diet, it would have been easier, but going vegan and wfpb is still the best thing I ever did for my health!

I was at my all time healthiest when I never ate between meals. My rule was the first time I get the growlies is my tummy cleaning and prepping for a meal. When eating the second time I got growlies (usually about an hour later) my stomach and digestive system turned on like machinery in there. I could FEEL it doing its thing and it would work mechanically, like a machine, until my tummy was empty. It was like a wondrous miracle of nature. It gave my digestive system focused time to work, and time off between meals and holy crap the extra energy gained from not trying to digest ALL the time was remarkable. It was the best time of my life. I kept that up until I had kids and it slowly got lost in the snacks and working too hard...... I think I'm going to do that again. Thanks for the reminder!
@justmythinking7016

from my experience, if you have digestive problems when going vegan, then eat low amounts or don't eat at all, high fodmap foods (nuts, seeds, cabbages, legumes etc) or raw foods. do at least 3 weeks on cooked easy to digest foods like leafy greens, certain fruits, squashes, potatoes etc, and then after this initiaul phase, you can then start to incorporate in more complex high fodmap foods like cabbages, beans, nuts, raw vegetables, etc.

Great video. I have a legume intolerance, including even lentils. Been WFPB for 9yrs. Substituted the legumes for more starches and grains. Things are normal now. Tried pretty much everything under the sun without a desired result. I’m 66, and it seems to have gotten worse over time. So maybe it’s my age? Haven’t totally given up. I’ll start to reintroduce them very slowly. But honestly, I’m enjoying this reprieve. Might get a GI mapping. They’re not too terribly expensive. The weird thing is that I’m not constipated at all, and never feel bloating or pain...just gas off the scale.

My reflux disappeared, it was great. The. I found out plant-based is the ideal diet, so I switched. Reflux came back to haunt me again. Not to mention I am so fatigued I can't work out anymore. Are we sure plants fix it?
@ashleycbla

It helps majority of people as far as I know. There are always a minority of exceptions. There are a lot of plant based foods so it could be the particular plant foods you are eating but we don’t know. If a low carb meat diet works for you and you feel healthier with no health complications then go back to what works for you. But I know if I start back eating meat my blood pressure will go through the roof and there are millions of people living with high blood pressure at risk for heart attack and stroke. So why not try a plant based diet and see if it helps if not, no one is making you eat only a plant based diet.

@KmmBev
3 жыл бұрын
I would see a naturopath, my father had a high PSA years ago he had hormone treatment etc to cure his supposed prostate cancer. Recently, this past October-he noticed his PSA creeping up..I told him he needed to eat a plant based diet. He listened and eats mostly plant based-he lost about 15 lbs-he still went for a prostate biopsy etc because he was scared the cancer was back. But guess what? The doctors found zero cancer and were confused as to why there was no cancer..even with the elevated PSA. My dad told me recently he thinks he never had cancer years ago.. and thanked me for saving him. Your PSA can fluctuate for so many reasons, don't jump to treatment, and is not the end all be all predictor of prostate cancer. Don't be afraid, keep eating a plant based diet, find a naturopath or a integrative medicine doctor. Best of luck!

It was interesting to hear him say that if you straighten out your gut, you can mitigate food sensitivities. I was gluten intolerant for 26 years. Diagnosed long before it became popular. I just happened on this "regimine" ...2 tbs chia seed and 2 tbs. oatmeal, soaked in cashew milk for 30 minutes. I microwave it like oatmeal for 1.5 minutes. I ate this twice a day for several months. My gut is much better and my gluten intolerance is gone.

@annajones1396
3 жыл бұрын
@@Alma-si5rh it really was just a fluke. I had tried chia seed before, but I sidn't soak it and the result was not fun. I was really just shooting for a more nutritious breakfast. But the result for my gut was amazing. I had a severe case of gluten intolerance. It was so bad that I was hospitalized because they thought I had cancer. This was when I was 25. So I went completely gluten free for the next really 40 years. I'm now 66, can eat gluten no problem, and my gut is fine. For a while I couldn't eat gluten, dairy, or fodmaps. That is all gone. The only other thing I did different was take Vitamin D and B-12. So it could be a fluke, but no harm in trying.

Cooked food is not easier to digest. It is the opposite. Cooked food lost all the enzyme in the food so the pancreas has to make all the enzyme for food digestion. It stresses out the body more. A lot of time people get bloating because they eat fruits after eating vegetables. Fruit is the easiest to digest when taken with veggie, fruit is forced to stay in the stomach longer than it is supposed to, the sugar in the fruit cause food fermentation in the stomach and create gas. Fruit should be eaten alone, half to an hour apart from other food (before not after meal).

I’m a longtime vegan. I’m convinced I caused gut damage/dysbiosis by over using artificial sweeteners (lots of Mio in my water, splena or stevia extract in my coffee and tea, zero sugar Dr. Pepper) in addition to taking a supplement which can cause constipation. When I started getting symptoms of gas and bloating, I just figured I needed even more fiber and water and exercise. I poop(ed) every day, but I’d have a well-formed bm, followed by a couple more that were loose; I’ve heard Dr. B describe this as constipation, so after eliminating all the artificial sweeteners, I did eventually learn to cut way back on the fiber, which involved eating more refined foods than I normally did, to help my gut heal, add in magnesium citrate instead of the magnesium glycinate I had been using, and have finally come to understand and accept that I need to slow down the increasing fiber. Dr. B is great! I have his books, I need to reread them ☺️

They should put me in a data until I die😬 I am 100% whole food plant based until Sunday. Cheat once a week. And I eat pretty much same thing for a whole week until Sunday. Monday-Saturday: Broccoli, Kale, Spinach, one whole red onion, legumes, chia seeds, quinoa, walnuts, blueberries, lemons, grapefruit, kiwi, purple sweet potato, banana, orange, 3 to 6 herbal tea, kimchi and 1 healthy smoothie in the morning. Sunday: Popeyes Fried Chicken two weeks ago😝 Daily Excercise: *40-50 minutes of moderate to fast pace walking with weights to pump weights as I walk. I'm soaked when I'm done. *25 to 30 minutes of 195 Fahrenheit dry sauna *Daily photobiomodulation therapy

I have been juicing for 3yrs....meaning, throwing away the fiber! Finally, I switched 3 days ago to blending my juice in my nutribullet, so I am actually taking ALL the fiber now and I have NEVER been this constipated!! I am about to go back to juicing and throwing away all the fiber again! Please help (I do take my body intake per day according to my body weigh, which is about 64oz daily)

Every plant based diet will require a regular bowel cleansing: So, take at least every second day early in the morning on an empty stomach 1 tablespoon (= 15 ml) castor oil in order to prevent an intestinal blockage, for in the case that you will eat a lot of fruits or vegetables your large intestine will be really filled and you will remark this one occasionally unpleasant, this especially during the night.

My cousin laughed when I told them I was going to lose weight with just implementing Okibetonic Secrets, but after I showed them awesome results after I used it they're begging me to share with them about it. Of course I won't let them know the details about this diet plan, lol

A few contradictions in this video. He says the gut adapts to what you eat but then when asked why both a fast food diet and super high fibre diet can both have the same gas he says the fast food diet isn't feeding the microbiome. Why would it need to feed microbiome that are good for breaking down beans if they are exclusively eating hamburgers?

I don't get this walking after a meal. I would think we'd be better off resting after eating especially the main meal, while the body is working so hard to digest and blood is positioned at the stomach where it's needed instead of in our leg muscles.
