V10 9mpg towing. 10000 miles/9*average gas price (3.34) = $3711 per 10000 miles. Diesel 10000/14*average diesel price ($4.58) =$3200. Diesel not worth the extra price. It's just not there.

You can chip the v10 just like you can the 7.3, you can improve the HP up to 60hp and massive torque improvements for 99$. The v10 was made to compete with diesel engines of the day. There are FEW gas engines that produce 450ftlb of torque, even today.

I have owned several 2500 & 3500 2nd Gen Dodges. All have been very trouble free. Very good ride and handling. Only one truck had the dreaded cracked dash. I replaced the complete upper dash with a new unit from LMC Truck, the new dash I think was better than original in build quality and material than OEM. I do wish Dodge had built a full size SUV I most likely would have one of them. If you keep your road speed between 55 & 60 mph you get pretty good MPG with the V10.

I have a 1998 Ram 2500 V10 Clubcab. 119k miles and I love it, had to install the steering stabilizer and steering box. The Ford guy constantly mentions how the V10 is not worth much, may be not as much at the Power Stroke but a nice condition V10 go for decent money. The V10 is built for towing it can pull pretty much anything.

The only reason i want a diesel is because i grew up around my dads 6.0 and loved working on diesels with him and i just love the sound and how mechanically they work. I own an 01 dodge 2500 with a v10 in it and have been thinking about swapping it with a 24v.

It woulda been nice if they woulda matched the V-10's together. The Ford V-10 wasn't quite as stout as the dodge, it had much smaller displacement, but it was very durable, reliable and incredibly smooth

It's just crazy that's the little amount of power those massive engines could make with that many cylinders. It could've made at least 450hp and at least 575 lb tq
@BrownBomber92181

@@blackice7408 Although the Ford had 10 cylinders, they were small displacement cylinders, with a very small bore. The power they made was quite impressive considering the low compression and they didn't have variable cam timing. 362 hp & 460 lbs of torque is still very good.

Hello and thank you for your time making these videos. Would you recommend a diesel or gas to pull a 3,500 and a 6,500 lbs trailer RV…….what brand would you recommend? Thank you for your time

For that light of a trailer any half ton with the larger engine option can do it. A 3/4 will give you much better stability and durability if you will do it every day but the repairs will cost more as components are larger and overall more expensive. It's more easier to guage what your options are if you have a budget. If you will get new a Tundra will do it easily but 2014 to 2018 seemed to be the best as the 2019 had the trans cooler removed and 2013 and older had issues with the air injection pump. In the end the more you know your vehicle and it's limits as well as being able to repair it will be your best vehicle.

I've gotten up to 15 towing around 7,000 lbs on level ground at 55-65. 7 to 9 towing VERY heavy. 7 to 8 driving like a total fuckin madman. Actually not bad at all for what they are. Skip the 3.54s or mileage (all but comtinuous low speed highway MPG) will PLUMMET.

Friend had a 96 V10, with 3.55 gears 2wd. It would average 18 on the highway unloaded and averaged 14 pulling a 40’ fifth wheel flat trailer gross weight 14,000. We pulled race car on weekends and it didn’t even know the car and trailer were behind it.
