How is E85 different in compression or in performance compared to pump gas? Plz make another episode on this
@YourAverageEmile
6 жыл бұрын
E85 has a lot higher octane rating than petrol, about 100 - 105. This makes it alot more stable and resistant agains engine knock and preignition allowing for higher compression, giving more power. Also, E85 burns much cooler than petrol so it helps control cylinder temperature also aiding in thermal efficentcy. Drawback is that E85 contains about 33% less energy per litre compared to petrol so you need to inject more per stroke to equal out

When the air gets compressed, the raise in temperature its not only due to the molecules rubbing against each other, but because the time between collisions is shortened, that's why! In a diesel engine, the diesel molecule gets ripped apart due to all the collisions with the air molecules and oxidizes (burns)! The cylinder walls also get warmed up because the number of collisions with the cylinder walls is now increased by the decrease in volume. Thanks for the demonstration. Great job guys!

Why is fuel in my country 93, 95 and 97 octane standard?
@Donut
6 жыл бұрын
In most countries outside the US and Canada, they use "Research Octane Number." Here we use a "Motor Octane Number." They're different ways of measuring the same principles of gasoline. Your 93 (RON) is like our 87 (MON). Thanks for asking, I just learned something!

Second time I’ve seen the combustion in a cylinder referred to as an explosion on Donut. It’s not an explosion; it is a burn. That’s why piston heads have designs in the top creating turbulence to properly mix the fuel and promote a complete burn.

High octane can actually help boost fuel economy in cars that are tooned on regular. OBD2 cars have knock sensors, so it adjusts the ignition timing. I've talked to regular non car people and I've been told by some that the do see better MPGs by about 20% give or take. Also, Shell and Chevron/Texaco premium fuel has detergents that help to clean your pistons and valves.
@chamacorunner1
6 жыл бұрын
dohc16vturbo4g63 Idk about boosting your car. Gas is just used to ignite when sparked. There is no magic fairy dust added to make a boost. There is supplements to make more power but I have seen only like 4 HP more then regular gas. Not worth the effort really...only way to get more power is mechanically

That's so interesting. Thanks for teaching in a fun way you guys rule :D What boggles my mind is that here in Poland we have standard fuel 95 octane and Shell V-Power is 98 octanes... why there are such differences in various countries?
@shantygaming694
2 жыл бұрын
Super old comment, but it’s because European countries and North American countries use different rating systems for their fuel. NA uses the AKI testing index, Europe uses RON testing index. In short, the fuel is exactly the same, 99 octane from a RON rated country like Poland, is 93 Octane in a AKI rated country like US, Canada, Brazil, and others. Also depends on the station, some gas stations in Canada will stock like 94, which is like 101.5 RON. But yeah, it’s all the same fuel basically, just how it’s rated. If you look up Octane rating on Wikipedia, it can explain the testing methods better than I could over a KZitem comment.
