The acid reflux occurs with the sleeve not with the bypass. Actually if you get a sleeve and your reflux gets really bad they will do a bypass because the bypass will correct that

Thank you for this video! I've been back and forth between the sleeve and bypass. I definitely need the scare of dumping syndrome to keep me in line. I have my appointment next week.

I need to clarify your dumping statement : yes 80-% of bypass patients will experience dumping BUT that’s typically early out. Over time, 60% of us don’t dump at all. That’s why no one can “depend” on dumping to keep them on the straight and narrow. I hoped to have it. Nope! Excess Skin depends on skin elasticity, age and genetics. I am 15.5 years post op RNY. Best thing I ever did.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing that info :) I only know so much about the bypass so I’m glad to see more about it! That’s awesome that you’re still feeling good about it 15.5 years later! 🤩

I had lap band surgery in 2009 my band will be coming out .. sad thing is I have to go thru all the same thing as a beginner! I was 220 lost to 140 I was so happy well my band was giving me issues so I was left with 1 cc in my band. Pray that they can remove the band and do the sleeve. Should be in March

Why would you want 90% of your stomach removed that is trauma. 35% of women who did the sleeve had to revert to bypass do your research and that’s the facts

Hi Megan, very good information.. now my ? For u is.. is it true after surgery u need to take vitamins and supplements for the rest of your life?? Since after surgery you are eating less, and that's less nutrients in your body.... Please help thx for sharing 💓
@angiedenny9337

That is true. You have to take vitamins throughout the day. With gastrics bypass your stomach is taken down to the size of an egg. So you have to eat 5-6 times a day around a quarter cup of food at a time. You can't drink anything while you eat. You have to drink 15 minutes before or after.

I know this video is a year old, but I'm struggling with this... When I initially started my journey, with my insurance and living in the area that I live in, I had two choices of doctors, one that was super close and one that was almost a two hour drive. I went with the closer doctor and on my first visit, I was given sleeve literature and asked my doctor what was going on, that I had initially decided to go with bypass and he started a 20 minute lecture about how he doesn't do bypass because it wasn't "physiologically normal" so I decided on the sleeve. Now, here I am, done with my program, waiting on insurance approval, and wondering if I made a mistake. I have 165lbs to lose to reach my goal and I'm worried that getting the sleeve procedure over the bypass is the wrong decision... do you have any advice?

@@iffy98I had the sleeve procedure, actually almost exactly a year ago. I have no regrets. I lost about 130lbs (could have been more if I’d tried harder) I’ve pretty much maintained the same weight for the last couple months. I have about 35-40lbs to go to reach my goal, so I’m satisfied.
