Back in the there was no wire mesh fences and that was how people cleared the rocks and stones and divided up grazing ground also in the famine times people might have to labour for a day to get a so called meal at night in a work house some of them walls are 100 maybe 200 years standing

@@swamp-yankee hill farming is quite different. Not possible to strip graze and measure grass. It's a different type of farming that requires a different approach. No such thing as spraying, weed control, fertilizing, most of it is inaccessible. We have to rely on correct stocking rates to manage grass and heather, then supplement and look after ewes as necessary after that. Cheers for suggestion though
@swamp-yankee

@@JoannetheShearer I'm also from hill country. I heard it called the land of no flat land. Even crop ground is pretty rolling. Farming is pretty competitive around here, because most land has been used up and let go to trees. So getting grass is not easy. I have had to diversify my marketing strategies, and plan and control grazing to grow enough grass to run enough sheep to make any money with sheep. Really not trying to say you should be doing different. Sorry if it came off that way. Im glad your sharing about your place and way of life. I enjoy your videos a lot.
