I was trained by Gazzo, and have benefited from what he taught me for over 13 years or so...its not just his take on the cups, its how he draws a crowd. A stellar performer and all round good bloke. Cantankerous at times, and doesnt suffer fools gladly, which is as it should be. To see this video and hear the verbiage, tight, concise, and on point is amazing. He will be in Adelaide this fringe festival and no doubt there will be time to catch up with him. Thanks for putting this video online...seeing him live is wonderful, seeing it on video, it misses the energy that can be had seeing him live...so great though...Many thanks

JudyBats, I don't know if you've figured it out yet, but "this guy" is called Gazzo. He has a reputation as being one of the best street performers in the world and it's a well deserved one. It's nice to see something more recent from him. It may not have been his best performance, but it's always a pleasure to watch the master at work. :) Thanks for posting it. Looks like you had fun up there. ("If I went to America..." - he used to live there. Haha.)

A lot of ignorant people in that crowd, even the little kid didn't show the respect this guy really deserves. Really ungrateful job. Huge respect for him willing to do this and having to deal with people like that. Not all people of course, but just too many.

William Kimbler Yes, he looks like a great guy, I hope people were more rewarding than this crowd though, they seemed so reluctant to give him some money. I don't understand, they watched him for 30 minutes, and then they just walk off like he's only there for their amusement, that's impudent.

Think it through. Is it more likely that (as someone who's clearly familiar with Gazzo) I missed that little nugget, or that since posting this, judybats changed the title to reflect new information some time over the year since I posted that comment Try not to be so snarky - when you act like that prematurely it makes you look petty and unintelligent... which as someone into magic I expect you're actually not. Observation, quick thought, wit, entertainment and all that. Think on, mucker.

I met Gazzo When he was in Baltimore, Maryland at the Inner Harbor. If you read this Gaz, James Rouse who bilt the two pavillions called Harborplace died, and the Rouse corporation sold the pavillions. Since then everything went down hill. As I see it, no real people come to the harbor anymore. By the way, I'm learning to do the cups and balls. Personally, I think you talk too much. You should change your routine.

To be fair, Gazzo's cups and balls are famous enough in magic circles that it would be impossible for him to fool 'em. Any magician worth his wand already knows how it's done. In fact, Gazzo's got a better version of this... After the balls've gone, he reveals lemons under the cups. Then out come the oranges. Then he sets his hat on the table, talks to the audience for a bit, and when he lifts the hat... a goddamn honeydew melon drops out of it.
