I heard someone explain it like this; when you hear an ambulance passing you by, you hear the sound getting lower and lower, that's essentially what's going on but visually, red is at the end of the colour spectrum so you will see it when something is moving away from you. it really made me understand it

That is called the doppler effect and its a shame they failed to mention it in the video. I don't know which exam board cognito is following but in edexcel physics I am pretty sure that is in the circulum.

I would like to start by saying I really appreciate these videos, but its a shame you didn't mention the doppler effect. we spent a quite a bit of time on how the sound waves are similar to light waves in the aspect of how as from the observes point of view the source of light/sound gets farther away the wave stretches. I am pretty sure its going to be on our end of topic test as well so it would be really appreciated if you could add that on here.

If other galaxies are moving away from us , then we are moving away from galaxies behind us which the self are moving away from other galaxies ….. so where’s the centre of all galaxies? Stars have been pumping out photons , neutrinos and possibly more since the beginning of time. Could this have created an intergalactic “atmosphere”? As the suns light “reddens” as it passes through our atmosphere in the evenings, is it possible that the light from distant stars also reddens after passing through the galactic atmosphere? Is red shift being misinterpreted? Could it be true that the universe is not expanding at all? How could the Andromeda galaxy be approaching ours in an expanding universe?
