My fix was tightening the belt. It will spin because its drained, But the weight of the load with full water & a loose belt just smoked at the motor pulley. I tightened up the slack on that sumbitch & presto! it works!

Getting ready to do this to my washer tomorrow!! Hoping it fixes the problem. I’m having the exact same problem. But it’s obvious that it’s not agitating. The clothes are not coming out nice and clean! Thank you for this quick and easy fix!! The part number is right in the piece, and I paid 6.99, free shipping on Amazon.

The part is a drive block and the part worn away inside is the splines. You should show it slipping and then put in the new part and test it. Good luck with your channel.

Single grandmother with no maintenance skills whatsoever. My GE top loader is only 4 yrs old and isn't agitating, making a grinding noise. It leaves detergent around the sides when finished. Help!!!

Question, should you be able to hear the motor trying to agitate at all? Ours is silent, doesn't seem to be trying to do anything but when it gets to the drain/rinse it spins and drains. Great video and thanks for any reply.

My whirlpool washer isn't agitating . it's just spinning the whole agitator during the agitation cycle and I just had to replace the motor coupler because it had broken

When you progress it to spin, does it drain and spin properly?
@121790tyler
11 ай бұрын
@@WasherDryerMoney it started working fine now. I was just testing a cycle with just water and went in to look at it as it was suppose to be agitating the agitator was just spinning fast the top and bottom of it instead of going back and fourth. I also didn't get in there to look at it until it was at the end of the agitation cycle. once it went to spin it was draining and working correctly from the start so I don't know what was going on. I did notice I can spin the agitator at the top both directions freely so that is something that needs fixed. The washer also has a capacitor so I didn't know if that was just for the run cycle or helped with reverse rotation as well it's also a whirlpool from 1998 based off the motor date

@@121790tyler it’s probably fine now that it’s done a full cycle. Sometimes a old transmission will be in the wrong position after you do a repair. After it goes to a full cycle, it will probably be fine. The agitator probably needs new dogs Sometimes called dog ear gears. They’re super cheap and easy to do. It actually will still work fine. It just will only agitate from the bottom of the agitator and not the ratcheting top.

I’ve came across your videos after I’ve flipped appliances for a couple years now but was paying people to do repairs for me. Your videos have really helped and now I’m doing the repairs myself. I have a GE same issue, replaced the coupler still not working. It seems like the notches on the agitator itself are stripped out. Is that possible?

Thanks for this post and description. We have a 1980 Kenmore washing machine that does not agitate on some cycles and hums or clicks when not agitating, but still spins. It also makes loud noises near spinning cycle. Could it be the same issue?

I can't seem to find the answer to my issue. Have a GE top loading washer with a very sluggish agitator. I cannot manually spin it so coupler not broken. It drains and spins so it's not the belt... I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions? Thx
@WasherDryerMoney
Жыл бұрын
Motor Going bad or capacitor getting weak. I believe the capacitors are built onto the motors, not replaceable on most GE. that would be my best guess without seeing it in person. Good luck. you might also check to see if the belt is in good shape, and not slipping.

I’ve had several GE washers have Motors go bad. It’s always hard to tell. There’s a couple Facebook groups that are really good at helping people fix appliances by just sending them a picture or taking a small video of the issue. I think there’s one called appliance repair group or something like that.
