I really appreciate you explaining the big difference between the pre-production model and the production model. I think a lot of people assume the production model will be better, when in fact they could be different due to different materials used or made via a different process since the process used to make the pre-production versions would take too long or be way too expensive to make the production versions.

This seems cool, but when I wish I had a rear wiper, what I really mean is I want to use the window washer to clean the rear window while I'm driving. There are aftermarket rearview camera or headlamp washers already that you could adapt to use if you want. Obviously it would need to have wiring and holes etc... put in for installation of the reservoir, pump, and the sprayer head, so it is more work than this, but for some applications it is worth it.
@Razwer

@@89five3five I don't see a feasible option to add a water container to this already bulky design. Don't get me wrong, i really appreciate this piece of engineering, but no window washer option is still problematic. Of course it's a case of lesser evil and the whiper will probably make a difference, but window washer will not be feasible in any future design due to size limitations.

Definitely going to preorder one through Kickstarter. Hopefully price is not going to be too high. Anything under $500 - I am game. Couple things I would like to see changed: 1. Position of the charging port - if it was placed on the side rather than facing glass - one can recharge it without taking wiper off and having to position it correctly all over again. Portable charging brick, V2L or just wall charger in a garage could then be easily connected. 2. I would love to have option of activating endless swiping mode - maybe with 3 clicks of remote? Double-clicking remote every 2-3 minutes when driving in the rain or wet snow is going to be a chore.

I'm confused what problem is this solving? So many sedans drivers never complain about visibility through the back when it's raining. I drive a Camaro and it has a pretty upright rear window and when it's raining you can't see anything out the back. Realistically why do you need to use the rear window? You got the side mirrors which all you ever have to use. If anything a rear camera is the only useful thing in the rain. But again why do you care if you have a clear view out the back window? No reason to. Not sure why people are making a huge thing out of this. It's literally the most pointless window in the car. Only reason I ever use it is if I think I missed a cop or to see if a cop is following me. Otherwise the rear camera is there for backing out and the side windows tell me if someone is gonna crash into me from behind.

Idea for the next version: 1: Different wiper arm lengths to accommodate more cars without windshield wipers. 2: Qi charging through the magnet on the inside if the window. You can plug into the magnet instead of having to remove it every time you have to recharge. May also provide the potential for a "hard wired" solution without the need for a battery or drilling.

I’ve had an Ioniq 5 for three years and I can honestly say that the absence of a rear windscreen wiper isn’t an issue. There are only two instances when rear vision can be poor; one is in the case of a very fine mist on a clean window, the second is with a build-up of dirt over time (yeah, doesn’t get washed that often). In the case of a dirt build-up the rear view is like looking through a sand-coloured smoked glass window. Sorry - but I wouldn’t have one if it were free!
