I bought this product and used it for two days before the plastic part with the spikes connected to the axis broke. The plastic handle was also starting to slip around the axis when turned. I used it on 5 beets, 2 sweet potatoes, 1 daikon, 1 carrot and a butternut squash before the part with the plastic spike cracked where the axis is inserted. It would be a better design if the prong and handle were made of metal.

This is very surprising. I use this slicer often and have not had any issues as described. I have found it to be one of the most durable slicers available. It is covered by a 5 year warranty and GEFU will certainly replace it for you.

Would you recommend this one better than the Spirooli?

I personally prefer using a spiralizer that works vertically like this one does compared to one horizontally. The spirooli does offer the advantage if being able to use large vegetables.

RawNutrition.com Oh ok thank you, i asked because i am searching for one that can make thin noodles but i wasn't sure if there was a big difference between these two or which one was better overall.

I'm trying to decide which spiralizer to purchase, and looking at lots of reviews. This one seems to get very good reviews, but from comments below I wonder if I could use it with carrots and courgettes, or does it really only work with them if you cut them shorter which sort of defeats the purpose in some ways? I looked at spiralizers before and didn't end up getting one, but a recent offer on a Salter one made me look into them once more. Smaller size for storage sounds good, and 5 year warranty too, also that you can use it over a larger bowl to catch the spirals if you wish.

+Carol Vile This type of slicer will require longer veggies to be cut shorter to fit however it still does a nice job. If you used a slicer like the GEFU Spirelli you could use a long carrot but the strands will still end up being cut as it is hard to turn the carrot without breaking any strands coming out of the unit.

+RawNutrition.com How? I got one & encountered the same problem. The centre where the veg sits is too far away for a narrow vegetable like zucchini or carrot, from the cutting blade. Poorly designed for anything but beet/potato. Also, it's not really a Julienne. It cuts big, chunky slices, not fine slice at all.

kangarool It works best with larger zucchinis and carrots. Pencil thin vegetables will not work well.
