I like to warm this up and sip it slowly in order to notice how the flavor and aroma changes as it cools. I really like this sake. In this cool weather, the floral and fruity aromas and flavors really remind me of spring. The sweetness and the alcohol also really balance each other. I am no expert on sake or any other wine/beer for that matter, but this is a good buy overall in my opinion.

I find that Gekkeikan is my go-to sake when I am starving and all I want is cheap tempura and sushi combo from my local chain teriyaki restaurant a block away from where I live. It's really good for relaxing on a low key, stay in, watch a few movies and unwind kind of night. Expensive Sake and other alcohol has the pretense that you must be going out to have a good time or something. But good ol' Gekkeikan is that hoody-donning best friend that doesn't matter if you stayed in your pajamas all day and ordered Uber eats for dinner.

You're so right about it. Gekkeikan doesn't judge you. Gekkeikan just wants you to be you.

I bought 14€ difference type of same sake but damn one of worst thing i had after few sips we trow it up to trash . It was only like plain water with little bit of alcohol from those really cheap pralines. I comes from country where we are famous for drinking a lot of alcohol and beer is many times cheaper than water in markets 😂 (well i dont like beer) but i really love wine and rum but yeah tryed even soju from great korean restaurant in Budapest when i was there big porcion of food and so damn great but soju was almost same like sake i had but that was more like vodka with bad taste of alcohol from cheap pralines 😂

Juice frozen mango pieces and mix in the chilled sake. Then take the juice/sake mix and the pieces of the mango that come out of the juicer into a blender. Blend and serve. Amazing!!

I don't know if it was because I'm an extreme light weight or because it was room temp, but when I drank it it BURNED Been lightly sipping for about 15 mins now and it doesn't burn much anymore, but that initially taste was WILD I really like it! Tastes like a smooth Pinot Grigio

I think depends on the person. I've had friends that can't drink stuff over 12.5% ABV because it hurts their throat too much. Then there are folks like me that will drink whiskey neat. Sometimes it just takes some getting used to (as you mentioned) but there just somethings you can't get past. I'm glad that you like this one though!

I have tried 5 different bottles of sake so far. I'm super new to this. so far I really like it. My favorite was a Japanese import that was Junmai Daiginjo it was amazing. Cost me $25. Gekkeikan was the first one I tried, but I dont remember if it was exactly the same as the one you tasted here. The bottle looked identical though. Thanks for the video! Kampai!

I don't know boo about sake, but some tips on the name: you don't have to voice the back to back Ks. The double consonant causes a hesitation between the 'ge' and the 'k'. And kei makes 'kay', for example 'sensei'. Neat to hear about the fungus, I don't ever hear much about how these things are made. Something something grapes, something something it'll get you drunk.

What's the bite on it? Looking for an affordable sake that doesn't have that alcoholic aftertaste, I tried the Joy Sake recently and it has a pretty bad almost vodka like after taste. The Gekkeikan Premium Suzaku is pretty good a room and medium cold temp with the subtle sweet taste u describe. Awesome review!

Thanks! As for the alcohol, I've noticed that a lot of sake presents "hotter" with alcohol notes the warmer you serve them. This one was pretty balanced and didn't show too much of the alcohol on the palate or finish. There are some bottles of this that are 250ml and a fraction of the price so it might be worth a few bucks to try.
