Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey 🦊🤘🔥 I'm always glad to see more reactors getting into this amazing group. They were rocking out the whole World Tour 2023/2024 and everyone were having a blast with the setlist, the new songs from latest album and the classic hits, especially GC! either you hate or love it, is a song with crazy amount of views and they don't wanna leave behind in any of their setlist just like they did last month at the Europe Tour. Dance choreography and metal had never been seen before and they somehow managed to make it works creating their unique own genre called kawaii-metal, mixing Jpop and heavy metal along with many more sub genres and rhythms, you'll have so much fun going through this journey. This isn't actually live sound, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. They have their own band called Kami Band introduced later on that same show and after that Kami Band become regular at live performance but they're not official members, only these trio are the front women. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 25. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status changed last year with the new official member. This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"._ The backing band here are called "baby-bones", they don't actually play they're just mimicking air playing instrument, later on this same concert and after 2014 you'll see the girls performing with a real band called the Kami Band, more of them later. Some recommendations for next songs like: - *"Road Of Resistance"* live in Japan official. - *Megitsune* official MV. - *Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!* live at this same live performance Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title). You have more than 60 songs to discover. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have "Babymetal Reactor Resource" channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. I'm gonna try to leave in my next comment where to get safe clips to react if YT allows me to do it. Btw BM was the first group in Japan after 2010 that opened up the gates for Jmetal and Jrock bands, especially female frontend bands, to the world, so they're the reasons why many people and fans know more about Japanese music (besides Jpop), there was a before and after thanks to BabyMetal. Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time! 🦊🤘🍫

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions: - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast. kzitem.info/news/bejne/rYR8z3iNg5pjeXY - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yGhpnWZ5boJ7f4I - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014. kzitem.info/news/bejne/xYtpnnePpKJzqX4 - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997. kzitem.info/news/bejne/z62pz6KjsYaplaQ - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one. kzitem.info/news/bejne/y4iZn5iYoJtzg34 - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. kzitem.info/news/bejne/z51uu5OgaZmhf34 - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do. kzitem.info/news/bejne/s6VjxZeYn5ajjHo - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mY14qp2ChoCLlno - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday). kzitem.info/news/bejne/o4mg3G2FkqaIjWU - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live. kzitem.info/news/bejne/uqBju4V_paOkfIY If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is. kzitem.info/news/bejne/pomwv22ahWhiZoY - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kpqKl62tkoRmhqQ - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014. kzitem.info/news/bejne/lql53I2Mh5d1Y6w - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro. kzitem.info/news/bejne/p4GFsmqsbH-VZZg - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV, be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case. kzitem.info/news/bejne/24p7v4l8oH6nmI4si=BsVOSExS25Qndy1H - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts. kzitem.info/news/bejne/rm58samjr5peqm0 Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo. - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qZ1muK2inJlpeWU This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0mpmvKGKgYWZZ5g And here's a BM guide (the long one). kzitem.info/news/bejne/wn-YmKx7rZqVhpwsi=EnEYU4nN3tuiY3WL There's a beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until last year unlike the other one with full updates till this year. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mo5r3J5nZoWYkmksi=icqbG22Ysw0Pc-Ll 🦊🤘

Haha good one, and welcome to Babymetal! They are a live performance band combining J-Pop and heavy metal in a unique and amazing fashion. Don’t let this song fool you though. While they can be joke-y and fun, they also go hard, epic, dark, and somber. Their style has also evolved as they grew from 12/11 year olds to mid-20s today. 3 suggestions to get a sample of Babymetal: *Headbanger (Legend 1997):* Same show as Gimme Choco in Dec 2013 to celebrate lead Su-metal’s 16th birthday. *Road of Resistance (Official Live):* Epic anthem from Jan 2015. Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce involved with the guitar parts. *Monochrome (Pia Arena MM, 2023):* A heartfelt, melodic, and heavy song from their newest album. Look forward to more Babymetal!! 🤘🦊

Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, and they released the music video for "RATATATA" which is a collab with Electric Callboy! 🤘🦊🤘

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊I'm really happy you enjoyed this song, it is very often the first thing people hear from BABYMETAL and quite a lot of people never got any further because it was just too different for them - which is a real shame as there is so much more to BABYMETAL than 'Gimme Chocolate'. BABYMETAL formed in 2010 creating their own new metal sub-genre. They started as a fusion of Metal with J-Pop hooks, melodies and aesthetics including choreographed dance - but not as you know it. Their choreo is not used to titillate or distract like it is by most pop acts etc, it is interpretive, relating to the meaning of the song or a lyric - very handy for us non-Japanese speakers - but most importantly it is used to engage with, include and involve the audience. They are masters of crowd control and can get whole arenas (not just the front rows) jumping, chanting and joining in, following their lead. As an old school rock and metalhead I had no interest in choreographed dance (and I still don't with any other artists), but BABYMETAL's choreo just enhances and improves everything ... I have no idea how, it just does. They did not stick at J-Pop and they have gone on to mix and blend so many more musical styles and genres with the metal. They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last. Some are good hard metal (and they have songs in virtually every metal genre), some may lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between. The original 3 BABYMETAL girls were - Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and the original third member Yui Mizuno aka Yuimetal. Yui last appeared in October 2017. She missed Su-metal's 20th birthday concerts in December 2017 and the 2018 tour because of poor health. She announced in October 2018 that she was still not fully recovered and had decided she would leave the band. Su and Moa continued as a duo (supported in live shows by any one of 3 dancers taking the 3rd spot on a rotation basis) for the next 4-5 years. On 1st April 2023 they finally revealed their new official third member Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) - she was the last remaining one of the 3 dancers who had been supporting them since 2019. BABYMETAL started with little or no budget wearing borrowed clothes, singing and dancing to pre-recorded instrumentals in shopping malls, a stage by the food court normally reserved for stand up comedians at one festival and small shows in tiny venues. They started to gain an audience nobody had expected would exist for such a weird fusion of styles and as they started to get noticed to to gain popularity they got a bit more budget for costumes and eventually a live band (the guys in skeleton suits you saw here - called Babybones - were not a real band. Early on, the instrumentals were on backing track and Babybones waved guitars and danced about in the background). The Kami Band are their live band. They first appeared in October 2012 and they were phased in gradually over the next 18 months or so playing at a couple of festivals and playing the encores in some shows. 'Gimme Chocolate' was filmed at the last concert where the Kami Band played only the encores - they did the last 5 songs. In Feb 2014 BABYMETAL released their first album and at shows at The Budokan in Tokyo on 1st and 2nd March the Kami Band finally became their full time support for all live shows. They were the very best session musicians to be found in Japan. As session musicians they have their own bands and projects etc so would swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians played the vast majority of live shows from 2014 through to January 2023. In 2019 as BABYMETAL's tours got longer the Kami Band of the West (4 American musicians) were introduced to support BABYMETAL on the lengthy foreign tours. These musicians (the bassist has swapped out for now) have been ever present since 1st April 2023 (that was nearly 100 concerts in 25 countries in 2023 and I don't know how many concerts and festivals this year already). You already have some great suggestions with links in the comments below for more reactions - you liked 'Gimme Chocolate' (arguably their most divisive song) so you can't go wrong with any of them - just prepare yourself as they will surprise you in the best possible ways every time.

NIce job. You handled this well. You'll get a lot of repetition with Babymetal comments...cause we're devoted. Do not let this detract from this performance. But early in Babymetal's career they did not have the money to hire a live band. So early concerts they had mimics in skeleton costumes pretending to be playing. Known as the Babybones. The girls are singing live though. As the girls popularity grew they started working in a live band-the original Kami Band. Several numbers in this concert feature the Kami band. And this was the last show for the Babybones. I'd suggest "Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 Apocalypse" from this concert to see the girls with the Kami's-made up of some of Japan's top session musicians and they are as good as a band can get. I'm including the link for this frankly must see video, for people interested in Babymetal. It is a banger (link follows): kzitem.info/news/bejne/uqCgvY6mn5Gbhqg

Nice reaction! But you should be aware of the fact, that the music in this was not live. The real LIVE instrumentation, with the "Kami Band" playing, is even better! 🤣 These (still) young ladies and their bands (there are/were two bands, correct. And the two bands even performed together at a special concert!) are beyond awesome! Truly unique, you won´t find any other group of performers/musicians pulling off shows like BABYMETAL does. The concert this performance was taken from is a banger in its entirety. It was called "Legend 1997 Apocalypse Su-Metal Seitansai" (Su-Metal is the name of the main vocalist, and the concert was to celebrate her 16th birthday, among other things. You might find out in the near future😉). Most of the concert was done with the "Baby Bones" (the guys in the skeleton onesies), actors who only pretend to play the instruments. With the 5 song encore, the "Kami Band" took over and played live. It was a rather early performance, the ladies worked hard the years before this to be able to pay the live band performance... You could try "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" from this concert, next. It´s a real banger, and a very special song for BABYMETAL. There are several, very special versions of it out there, but first try the one from the "Legend 1997" concert. You might even get some "Slayer" vibes from it 😉 And it´s with the Kami Band (East) playing live!

I am also gen x so I suspected you might like this, our generations music was pretty out there once you ventured beyond the commercial stuff. I also stopped listening to new music around that same time, I was not hearing anything new just the same sound rehashed and I had more than enough old favourites to keep me content if not challenged. Then KZitem recommended this video and after ignoring it for a few days, I gave in and watched it, it was surprisingly good, it checked several boxes in what I liked in my music and it was different. So I explored more and each new song I heard was unique but awesome in its own way. Fast forward a few years and I am now a huge fan, have travelled overseas to see them live and own most of their BluRays and a bunch of other merch. I hope you enjoy checking out more from them

Amuse was against this idea, but although they didn't give him any money he had ideas, and togethether with his girls he forced Amuse to establish Babymetal and as they showed in 2014 that their concept even worked in Europe they became the international most successful japanese Band. Many members of The One will say that this song isn't among BABYMETAL's best - I beg to differ. Although BABYMETAL does have many songs that are better, this song defines what BABYMETAL is: heavy metal pleasantly mixed with J-pop without missing a beat - kawaii metal at its best, and one of the best videos of the "Yui Era" (a little more on that later). Well, you’ve opened a can of worms! BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of recommended songs (along with suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" or simply "The Yui Era". This list also includes all four songs of the BABYMETAL sub-group Black BABYMETAL (just Yui and Moa while Su is taking a break): Doki Doki Morning (official music video) kzitem.info/news/bejne/xJ-ozoVuon6Vlawsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic Iine! (official MV) kzitem.info/news/bejne/yaGf0GiCr3N0jWUsi=DH7SfvifBUk0-pFd You can use my KZitem playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty” (kzitem.info/door/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj ) as a quick link to all of these videos; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . . Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest: "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" kzitem.info/door/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q and/or "Budokan Black Night" (2014) kzitem.info/door/PLdBAj9hZ91wBwsBfjsKH9zWxA5YOOUkSI Both concerts are, in a word, incredible. Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!) Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! (Sorry about the wall!) KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

This is not criticism. But dancing and being cute are skills too. They're professionals. The difference between them and amateurs is huge. I understand you haven't seen Idol Groups. But these girls are top level. This is not criticism. Just keep an open mind. There are other skills than just playing guitar.

And "top level" is a bit of an understatement regarding the girls/ladies of BABYMETAL 😉

Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL. Also Gen X here... Xennial to be more precise. And most important: a lifelong metalhead, old-school who discovered BABYMETAL in late 2019 and never went back. 😁 "Gimme Chocolate" is "just" a fun song about the girls wanting to eat chocolate but being a little worried worried about their weight. But, yeah those instrumentals are very, very metal and the juxtaposition with the cute vocals, lyrics and choreo was totally the point of the song and the reason why this music video went viral back in 2014. Helping them a lot tbh. It's their most "popular" song but probably not their best one. But that doesn't stop it from being a blast when they play it live. This music video has the studio version of the audio over the visuals from the concert Legend 1997 held to celebrate Su-metal's (the lead singer) 16th birthday. It was the song's live premiere. Yes, BABYMETAL are the three ladies. They are backed by a live band, the Kami Band, formed by session musicians, the best you can find. Unfortunately, they are not in this video: the guys in skeleton costumes (called "babybones") were there pretending to play the instruments while the music was in a backing track (Su-metal always sing live). It was like this because they couldn't afford and actual band at first. The real Kami Band was introduced progressively since October 2012 and they replaced the "babybones" for good since March 2014. BABYMETAL are: - Suzuka Nakamoto as SU-METAL (lead singer). - Moa Kikuchi as MOAMETAL (backing vocals and dance). - Momoko Okazaki as MOMOMETAL (backing vocals and dance). Official member since April 2023 after being one of their three backup dancers (Avengers) since 2019. Former member: - Yui Mizuno as YUIMETAL (backing vocals and dance). She left officially in 2018 after not performing since October 2017 due to health issues. With Suzuka and Moa she was one of the three OG members since their origins in 2010. She is in this video. I'd like to suggest you this one, from the same concert but with the actual band playing: Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997): kzitem.info/news/bejne/snuptZWDm4B3qqw 🤘🦊

This was studio audio over live footage, which is common for the official channel if they don't put "Live" in the title somewhere. I would suggest recent live performances of Road of Resistance, Monochrome, and Megitsune from their recent PIA Arena 2023 concerts. I would also suggest a recent live performance of this song, from the Legend MM 2024 concerts. Road of Resistance: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lY6Ps6p9g6tifX4 Monochrome: kzitem.info/news/bejne/maas3newoXSkh4I Megitsune: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s6Wo0YVtcoheaW0 Gimme Chocolate: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mGqgqHmsbpariaQ

I have to differ with your "official" description just a bit. Yes officially Official videos have studio audio over live footage. As the girls were singing "live" to a pre-recorded backing track (of necessity). I would still call this a live performance just without a "live" band for this and several other songs at this concert. I know it's minor but what the heck. I do wholeheartedly agree with your actual live recommendations. Clear & Black Nights were both fire!

@@robote7679 This is 100% studio audio pasted onto live footage. There is nothing live about it except the footage. There is no live singing because this is the audio track off their CD.

@@Hymnodic Well you seem pretty sure. I'm still curious though as you can hear the audience and you don't generally get audience sounds from an "official" track?🤔
