I guess I could have explained why you might do this. From the factory the Electronic Damper doesn't provide enough damping, especially for racing. Ohlins makes a more aggressive Suspension Control Unit (SCU) for the GEN4 ZX10R. I have one of those in my 2014 model and it works great. Still, you have no control over increasing or decreasing the damping force and are stuck with what you get.
If you just disconnect the ESD you'll get a flashing ESD symbol and a fault light on the meter. A workaround is to pull the motor out of the ESD and leave it plugged in but tuck it up under your fuel tank. The ECU/SCU will think the ESD is attached and working properly and will not throw a code.
