The late Gene Pitney! I have his greatest hits vinyl record album in my collection. I still play his greatest CD in my car. Gene came out in the 60's. ❤❤❤❤❤

Oh my goodness. It's been years since I thought of Gene! My sister use to listen to him back in the 60s. He had such a great voice. I'm going have to search out some of his songs that I enjoyed and listen to them again. I remember this one but he also had so many other great ones!

i was born in 1950 and grew up listening to nelson, pitney, orbison, elvis et all. saw orbision in concert in hamilton, ontario. incredibly, he sounded better in person than on vinyl. loved pitney too. saw him as well and was bitterly disappointed. did a medley of his hits. it was like he was sick and tired of performing them. still love listening to him but that memory is lodged in my mind.

When Mo Pitney first appeared, many thought he was related to Gene Pitney (obvious reason.) Gene takes me back to the 50's with songs mentioned below - Town Without Pity and Only Love Can Break a Heart. I still think that the 50's and early 60's had the greatest music in general. We had crooners, great groups, Elvis, and even some broadway mixed in, but country and bluegrass have remained my favorites.

I like Gene Pitney's compositions. The 1950s ended in 1963. The early 1960s still had music that was like it was in the 1950s. This changed when the Beatles came out. I believe Gene Pitney also co-wrote Hello Mary Lou, that Ricky Nelson covered. This is a great song. Cheers! ✌️

Good Morning Don, I have heard of Gene but had only heard snippets of his songs, this was my first time having to listen to a full song. Thought it was O.K. Would like to request a duet featuring an older artist and a newer one, Heather Myles and Merle Haggard " No one is Gonna Love You Better " Thanks Don for the reaction and a good day to all.---#UTRCM

@@jayshults8920 So you know this song. I really like it not sure if it is a love song or break up song. It is kinda of both mainly just know I really like it. I never know what gonna pop into my head when I start a comment. Heck for that matter I never know what's gonna pop into my head from minute to minute these days. I am pretty sure the Dwight/Hesther song Don is talking about is called "Little Chapel" if so it is really good too!---#UTRCM

Oh my I do remember Gene from my high school days (early 60's). He was huge on pop radio, which played everything including Country back then. The songs I remember the most :Town Without Pity, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, and Only Love Can Break a Heart. I had heard this one too, but it seems better to me now than it did back then. Being caught up in the past with my rotary phones, percolators, and vinyl records I really enjoyed this one. Thanks Don for including this one and for another great reaction!

If Gene Pitney had been country, I certainly would have requested this and several others. I'm Going To Be Strong is my favorite. But country? Nah. He did some duets with. George Jones. Those were country. This song, mid to late 60s.
