Roger, I can't thank you enough for posting this interview. Gene was my favorite male singer of all time, still is and it's wonderful to hear him speak as well as sing. He was truly a special man and amazing talent. Seemed like a really nice man too. Never heard a bad word about him. Thanks again.

His songs were absolutely amazing...this guy was so underrated in my opinion. I get so sad when i think of lots of my favorites, gone...you never know what will happen.I really liked Dusty Springfield. [ loved is a better word] and heard her version of "Twenty four hours from Tulsa", which she could have recorded, and been successful. But Gene Pitney had such a great voice and the records sounded unique. Its not fair they were taken so soon. I cant watch too much of D usty.too sad for me.

Hi Tootsie, We all have our favorites and Gene is mine. I was 11when I heard that magnificent voice and I was hooked.I'm 60 now and no one has taken his place. My regret is I never saw him live. Some come very close, Jay Black, Roy Orbison, Frankie Valli, Johnny Contardo,Johnny Mathis, Marty Robbins, Matt Monro but none had the impact on me Gene did. I always thought I would have time to see him, I was wrong. He left us too soon. Thanks for responding. Always happy to meet another Pitney fan.:o)

Pitney had such a unique voice and songs were written to showcase his range. Sophisticated songs, not the usual teeny bopper stuff but great songs with great lyrics. Dusty was also in a league of her own with a voice like silk. She is one of the few female artists who never sounded like she was screaming to me after a while. Patsy Cline is another, along with KD Lang. We lost Gene and Dusty way too soon. Their songs live on. I'm glad I was there for it.:o)

Dusty had the best female voice that came out of the 60's Period. I like her Better than Dionne W.Dionne had a ton of hits, but IMO Dusty was a bttr prformer and had that smokey piercing voice. One note sung and you knew it was Dusty.I liked her live performances, the way she performed a song.I don't care if she was straight, Bi, crooked. I thought she was sexy. Dusty had perfectionistic tendencies.Hard to work with.Burt Bchrch, said she had an amazing voice. He wrot 3 major hits for her.

Dusty was like no other. I never knew she was gay till lately. Matters not. However, at the time it did. She held her own. She refused to conform and was still successful. Talent is talent. She was ahead of her time. I always loved Dionne. Both had remarkable voices. As an American I would have to choose Dionne. When speaking of England, only Dusty will do.
