You can use a wine cork to put the hook into while making the trace up, this will stop you from getting hooked up. I use heat shrink on all my large traces, this keeps the knot and tag end from causing snags on the main line. You can buy heat shrink from any electrical supply store, just use a lighter to shrink it on, this also holds the knot so it wont pull out easy. Great show guys and girl

Hi Andre, you use a J hook first on the bottom, then a circle hook. 2 questions. When you apply the hooks to your bait. Does the J hook go through the head, and circle hook on the side. So the fish, live bait swims out backwards. I think that’s is how you describe it in your video. I would have thought you place the top hook in the head and bottom hook on the side the way the slide would go forwards. Hope that makes sense. Love your videos. Thanks

Will braided line work when sliding or is nylon the line of choice because of the stretch??? Would there be a difference in the shaking of the rod tip to get the bait down or would it basically remain the same?
@TheASFN

With the current non-return slide clips you have to slide with mono, apparently they are working on one for braid

Hi, van I use this trace for swimming a live bait for GT's or am I forced to rather go with floro ? Regards Riaan
@TheASFN

You can Riaan if you think there is a chance of Sharks, but if you are targeting GT's I would use Fluoro or Mono and if steel I would use Surflon 7x7 90lb

I try the figure of eight not with nylon coated steel cable and it makes a kink on the end and when I pull the tag end it came loose again. what's the best way for practice that knot to the non return slide and hook. Thanks for the videos you made show it to us. we grateful.

Is this trace OK for sliding a live shad or wave garrick, some sort of livie? Would you go short or longer on the trace for a live vait?
@TheASFN

yes, I would use a 1,2m for smaller up to 2kg live bait

In a number of your videos you refer to your monofilament and fluorocarbon traces as ".55" etc can you please explain this for me ? In Oz we usually measure our trace / leader material just by the weight rating. Your videos are good, I want more !

Will you be able to do a bait demo on a dead shad to show us where is the best spot on the fish to rig it up to slide out as a live bait so it stays alive longer and that will ensure a definite hook up when being taken.
