This a clear example of a player that crushes the forehand so the backhand is the only option to go but even so it is tricky because Gonzales was ripping the cross court shots.

@@francisco97morales Se le veía un potencial enorme pero nadie se habría imaginado lo que terminó siendo, principalmente porque estaba Federer dominando el circuito con apenas 25 años y también estaba Nadal ya como número 2 con apenas 20. Djokovic subía muy rápido, en 2006 ya era top 20 (con 18-19 años) pero en esos tiempos Nadal le llevaba demasiada ventaja a cualquier joven, entonces les quitaba protagonismo.

@@semidios7783no pésimo… era un revés a una mano muy decente con buenos planazos y un slice para mantener la pelota en juego… lo qué pasa es que su derecha era demasiado buena y potente, que todo lo que pegará del lado del revés nos parecería “pésimo”… busca los highlights de cuando llegó a la final del Australia Open y verás exactamente a lo que me refiero ;)

@@physef_3738 Balls and courts were fast, so the time window for reaction after the bounce was very short, but the older strings allowed slower transitions while the ball was in the air.

@@physef_3738 courts are slower today. atp wanted longer rallies because they thought people will like it more. even today, there are different speeds for hard courts. US open hard court for example is said to be slower than dry clay. indoor courts are normally faster, like the atp finals indoor courts. thats why nadal didn't win a single atp finals title, because there were players better than him on faster courts. more sand is added to the paint to make hard courts slower, clay can also be slowed down even more by adding water to the surface. grass too by using different types of grass. and the balls are also slowed down, by adding more fluff or making it heavier and softer

I mean the early 2000's had Gonzalez, Nalbandian, Soderling, Safin, Hewitt, young Del Potro just to name a few. It wasn't until like 2016 when the current next gen guys started blooming that the big 4 started facing tough competitions again

I didn't know No1e played with a Head Liquidmetal Racquet back in the beginning! Makes sense he switched back with Head years later after a stint with Wilson. Payed off to, won most of his grand slams with a Head racquet😀

Llegó a 4 grandes finales (Australia, Madrid, Roma, JJOO). Perdió 2 con Federer y 2 con Nadal. Ganarles una final en esos tiempos era casi imposible.

Ofc he would have won, this was a teenager Djokovic (his first pro year) vs an already seasoned González, his bh and long wide swing would be always punished by Novak bh, and he sure can absorbe Gonzo fh and make ir less dangerous too, he would diamantled his Game, the only González that could be a Match for a prime Novak it's the sus 2007 versión, and still would lost

@@vijayendranvijay4538 AO 2008 was exceptional, Djokovic and Tsonga were playing at 120% of their maximum level during those 2 weeks, they both reached finals without dropping a single set, with players like Nadal and Federer on the way... that was insane performance from both of them. This AO 2008 Djokovic was the only one who could beat this AO 2008 Tsonga on this day honestly ( he lost the only set of the tournament in finals against him ).
