Benny's comedy style has been described as a study on the hopelessness of male fantasy. To a point, the description is dead-on; Benny never got the girl in any of his sketches, and the whole reason we were laughing our ass off was because we could place ourselves in those situations mentally. Cheers, man.

There is no horn section on this track. What sounds like horns is a keyboard/synthesizer/sampler, played by Tony Banks. On this particular track it's the E-mu "Emulator II" produced by E-mu Systems in the 1980s. If you recall Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer," the flute sound was created by the same keyboard to produce what sounded like a flute. Look up "Anything She Does" Genesis, and "E-mu Emulator" (particularly the section devoted to "Emulator II") on wikipedia for more info. btw in an interview Tony Banks said the song was not played live on that tour because he said it was "a difficult song to do." kzitem.info/news/bejne/qpeDvWxnp6uWfno

"Security will not be laxative while I'm here..." -- classic Benny Hill play on words. Old school vaudeville, burlesque, English music hall comedy is still the best. The legendary Charlie Chaplin was a big fan of Benny Hill. Hill visited Chaplin's home after Chaplin's death & Chaplin's family showed Benny all of Charlie's videotapes of Benny Hill Shows. They told him he watched them for hours and laughed all the way through. It is said that Benny was moved to tears. TV legend Johnny Carson tried to get Hill on his show many times but Hill wouldn't make the flight from England to California. There are numerous name fans of Benny Hill including newsman Walter Cronkite, Mickey Rooney, actor Burt Reynolds & Michael Caine, Michael Jackson, rock musician Rick Wakeman, rapper Snoop Dog -- and Genesis. Benny Hill was a genius of a comedian. I remember as a kid watching one of his episodes there were 3 young girls in an outdoor shower & Benny was providing the water. I guess the English TV editors weren't too sharp, nipples galore for about five seconds on American television. Ha. I loved this guy. He slipped it passed them. Sadly, Benny -- despite his wealth & fame died alone at home in his recliner in front of the television. Or, maybe that's how he wanted it.

Well Phil has sung in Cockney accent such as in "Robbery, Assault and Battery" and I think his accent is still very recognizeably English (London) when he sings. It is a little more "softened", yes but that's the music. Phil sings: "neva, eva". Standard US American would be more like nevurr evurr. Did you ever hear US Gemesis cover bands, with a distinct US accent. Sounds very different - and great as well!

I think Invisible Touch is the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, Invisible Touch hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.
