There are only a handful of true "dynasties" in sports history. The 1950s New York Yankees, UCLA under John Wooden and the 1990's Bulls, to name a few. But one sports dynasty that is unanimously acknowledged and accepted is UConn women's basketball, and that is thanks to Geno Auriemma.
The first year of UConn women's basketball came in 1974-75, and in the 10 seasons before Auriemma took over, the program never made the NCAA Tournament and had only one winning season. Auriemma was hired as head coach in 1985 and in his 37 seasons at the helm, he's created one of the most dominant powerhouse programs college sports has ever seen. Simply put, Geno Auriemma is the best women's basketball coach of all-time.
