It's a shame that there exist no live footage with Phil in the band.

This, by far, is my favorite band from that entire era (decade of 1970-80). Even though Derek's stage patter comes off somewhat condescendingly, the bands creativity and incredibly tight use of dynamics and every other musical tool in existence, made them the greatest!

Ian Anderson is the best banter on stage !!))) But Derek is certainly the mightiest vocalist. Of all .... Perhaps even Peter Hammill ;-) Hello from a devoted GG fan in Ukraine!

So it was from the song "Nothing At All" that the band took the percussion for "So Sincere" chosen for the official 1977 Live album? Here's a pretty cool find today! Gentle Giant, a little box of surprises...

mikethenumber1 actually, the best recorded stuff from live performance came out in 1975 under the title, Playing the Fool, and it is a fantastic record of the control this band had on stage. They were just awe inspiring! By 1975 though, Phil had gone.

I presume from the date that this was Malcolm Mortimore on drums, anyone know? No, I can hear a welsh voice at about 8:35, must be john weathers.
