YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER JFK WAS SHOT IN DALLAS TEXAS,& AFTER THAT WE GOT THE BEATLES ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW TO HELP US HEAL.AND THEN LBJ TOOK OFFICE,& THEN WE BLED SWEAT & TEARS AS WE WERE FORCED BY THE U S GOV'T TO INDURE VIETNAM AS OUR PEOPLE CAME BACK IN BODY BAGS,& KIDS WHO WENT TO COLLEGE TO MAKE SOMETHING OF THEMSELVES WERE TORN OUT OF SCHOOL TO GO FIGHT,& DIE IN VIETNAM.

I always thought 1965 was musically the best. The British invasion, Motown, Surf Music, James Brown, Bossa Nova Jazz, were all at their height that year. Yeah let's go back dang it !!

Sure would. 1965 rubber soul by the beatles and seeing bob dylan at the Cleveland music hall on November 12, 1965. I met dylan in 1991 and have see him 35 times.

Speaking of generations "the bomb" was a prominent thought in the youngsters that any day the communists would launch a nuclear attack. Dropping below desks was a grammar school drill. The remedy to anxiety was to just keep on dancing, martyrs to the cold war.

We rented this tape in early 90's, my kid was into WWF at the time, Jimmy Hart was very big. He asked me to pick out Hart, I had no problem (3rd from left), still looks the same. Jump to Land of a 1000 Dances video by the (WWF) Wrestlers, you see Jimmy Hart right away was the only trained vocalist in the (wrestling) bunch. The man is a legend in music and entertainment.

I was a junior in high school when this song came out. I wasn't much of a dancer but when this was played, I was out on the floor having a great time! By the way, I still cannot dance that well.

I wish I could remember. They played at my Junior Senior prom in 1964, but I couldn't tell you one song they played since they hadn't released this song at that time. Oddly enough I recall the Bill Black Combo who also played, more than them.

They were high school friends from Memphis who formed in 1963. Early recording such as "Sometimes" were made for the local Youngstown label. They switched to MGM Records who distibuted "Keep on Dacin" nationally. Other MGM discs failed to crack the Top 40, including "Spread It on Thick", "Brown Paper Sack", "Every Day I Have to Cry Some," and "You Make Me Feel So Good." The 5-piece Gentrys led by guitarist Larry Raspberry broke up in 1967. Member Jimmy Hart formed a new different Gentrys in 1969, who recorded for Sun Records. Their big hits were "Cinnamon Girl," and "Why Should I Cry."

@@drivinsouth651 It's the same prancing side-to-side step over and over again. If anything, the Jacksons turned it into something far more complex and entertaining--and, obviously, more difficult to replicate well.
