Geologist Ian Plimer has weighed in on the controversial street name debate after a complaint was made about a street in regional South Australia called ‘Chinamans Lane’.
“This is telling you something about history,” Mr Plimer told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“We’ve had a long history of Chinese in Australia; they came to Australia in the 1850s for the gold rush.
“This complainant should know a bit about history.
“If we’re going to be that sensitive … we should change all the street names that have got anything to do with any ethnic group.”
