Romero has to go down in history as one of the most modest and self-deprecating men that has ever lived. Just unbelievably humble.....

I'm so glad Romero brought up something that doesn't get mentioned as much as other things: Ben was WRONG. Ben is likeable, cool under pressure, intelligent but, ultimately, he was wrong. In fact, he was just as bullheaded and stubborn as Cooper, he just wasn't as big an asshole. In fact, the whole point of the Ben/Cooper story is if they had only worked together everything would've possibly worked out. Instead they were both so "my way or nothing", it pretty much made any chance of survival impossible. Anyway, great conversation between two incredible filmmakers.

Two genre legends sharing a tender moment. You got to give it to GLT for managing to meet an iconic figure not just in horror, but all indie cinema, just when that window was closing. Fare Thee Well, Master Romero - even death couldn't distill your impact!

I truly love George's body language. He has his arms crossed and he is hugging himself throughout the interview. He is being given credit where he doesn't seem to believe it's due. George tries to express his experience in a Tolstoy-ian manner. He seems to try to say, "I was making a film with some of the concepts you have ascribed, but, you have "read into it 20 years of your own beliefs". Guillermo is incredibly intelligent and George seems to be trying to get Guillermo to understand George didn't plan all of what Guillermo "sees" in his films. This is Tolstoy's "War and Peace" statement. War is a explision of violence which is later written up as a incredibly heroic set of actions resulting in Victory. George, arms hugging himself, seems to be saying, "Dude, I wish I could take credit for a quarter of what you think I did." But, George is honest. He doesn't want to be a hero of a genre, he wants to be a independent films Artist... ( Of course I could be Entirely Wrong too)

I think you are exactly right and the beautiful thing is the contrasting confidence of Guillermo to reply, "It is all true and you deserve the praise and credit." These are the kind of interviews I love hearing.

Guillermo interprets a lot and with lots of absolutes, definitely this and definitely that. Wheras George is more about "what is" and working with/compromising with that to bring his creative will forward. I was lucky to have seen Guillermo give a long talk in SF years ago, he was maybe 30 feet away

Hello! English is a second language, so there's only one thing that I didn't catch. When Del Toro is talking about the judeochristian interpretation of films Romero says something at 36:44 and laughs. And it makes Del Toro say "thank you". What did Romero say? I listened a lot of times and I can't get it.
