George Boateng points the finger firmly at Phil Brown for Hull's relegation from the Premeir League in his post match interview after Hull lose one nil to Sunderland.
A gentleman, and a professional. He didn't let rip, he spoke very well.

Sometimes, praise and positive media can be the worst thing for a manager or player, as it goes to their head and they become arrogant, complacent and / or delusional. The same thing happened to Pardew at West Ham (after their excellent 2005/2006 season when they were a breath of fresh air) or Newcastle (after their excellent 2011/2012 season), and Hughes (after his very successful time in charge at Blackburn). Brown's ego (plus that of the Hull's chairman Paul Duffen) spiralled out of control after their 2008 promotion and excellent start to the 2008/2009 season. He received well deserved praise at that stage, but it clearly went to his head.

I think Boating just didn't like Phil Brown because he was dropped by him and only started playing again when Iain Dowie arrived. There is an element of truth to what Boating's saying as they never recovered from the Man City incident, however perhaps this is just a convenient argument which he's used to his advantage
@WhalleyDJX

He was the one most at fault that day against city he took a throw in, threw it to a city player and they went right up the other end and scored from it. Boateng was subbed shortly afterwards also after the great start Hull had they sat in 6th going into the game with City on boxing day and because of that Brown gave them all Xmas day off to relax with their families. Brown was so angry that 3 or 4 players had abused that day off and got pissed up until the early hours of boxing day and turned up for the game hungover and being sick Boateng was apparently one of them even though brown hasn't named him or the others directly. So yeh brown wasn't perfect but the players added to that day non more than mouth all mighty Boateng himself Not a Hull fan by the way I'm a man City fan but just saying.

Personally as a Hull City fan I blame the players like Bullard and Altidore who were happy to see their bank accounts go up and not put in any effort as the season drew to a close. The management, the finances and the backroom staff went all to shit. The team I thought what they selected wasn't good enough. End of story.

We was joint top sitting in 3rd position after 20 or so games. I'm not saying we belong in the Premier League at all, I was mearly defending our club against such a foolish comment. We did amazing things in the Premier League, yes we got relegated, but beating Arsenal at their ground(only the second team to have done so at the time) drew with Chelsea at Stanford Bridge, same with Liverpool, scored 3 at Old Trafford and Beat Tottenham. I was only defending the name of my club.
