"This album was sourced from cassette tapes in George Carlin's personal archives.
The first track is from a cassette labeled 'Boston Rant' which contains audio from George's early home recordings. We hear him in 1957. He is twenty years old.
He has a job at NBC Radio WEZE in Boston as a board announcer. He is living the first step of his 'Danny Kaye' plan - become a DJ. He is preparing for the second step - become a stand-up. Soon, he will be fired from WEZE for taking the company station wagon to New York to buy pot.
Tracks 2-7 are from two cassettes labeled 'MGM Grand in Las Vegas' and dated 9-9-2001 and 9-10-2001. George performed the same set each night. He was preparing to tape his twelfth HBO special in November, which was to be called 'I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die.' Clearly, this did not go as planned. The name of the show was changed to 'Complaints and Grievances.' The material included here is what was thrown out or reworked after the attacks on 9-11."
