A master of language, thank god that George Carlin wasn't a politician (that may spelled wrong... but fuck it as I was saying before I completely interrupted myself). If George Carlin were a politician we would be living in a better world, a more exciting world. R.I.P. George Carlin

i wanted to let you know 11 years later, you spelled politician correctly and laud you the award of not going back to find out if you did or not. It happened back there! And of course, RIP Carlin. I enjoyed growing up twice with him, once in childhood for his narration, second in my teens for his standup.

I know it's been forever since you wrote this, but how long did it take to get over that? I haven't hit a cat or a dog yet and while believing in no deity for the purpose I'm about to describe, I pray that I never do as I know it would sink me internally for a long time. Good ol' Curious George has been great in moments of grief in general though. My dark side in that moment would be saying "leave these people alone. haven't you done ENOUGH?"
@FluffyBunny9002

@James Fisch I just kinda let time do it. Funny (or not funny) thing is I actually hit another cat on that same road a few months later, and also couldn't find that one. I've been driving for 20 years and never hit an animal besides those 2 cats in that same area, so I started calling that place "Suicide Cat Road."

Ok so here’s my first wreck story: Got into my first accident a few days ago. Thought I had a green arrow to turn, I only had a green LIGHT, not a arrow. Shit. Crashed. Cars didn’t get super totaled, just a small dent in both. Guy was cool about the whole ordeal, officer came, showed the evidence on my dash cam, I got the ticket, and now I have to go to court for my screw up. In a way I think to myself “What if we just drove away, and I would have given him money out of my pocket to pay for the damages?”….Or maybe just drive away? People weren’t really around to see the whole mess either….. but anyways, I did the right thing, I guess, and stayed at the scene, as he did too. Still sucks, and it is very embarrassing knowing the fact I caused it. I honestly thought my first ticket would be about speeding, not for a wreck I caused. I was disappointed in myself, and still trying to get over this mess. I’m glad it wasn’t super bad, just like my parents said…..but a $155 dollar ticket doesn’t make me feel good either, as well as insurance going up, aaaaaaand dealing with points on my drivers license (which can be removed if I retake a drivers course). I wanted to crawl under a bush and die tbh. Since before this happened, I thought I was very careful on these roads (my area is bad for wrecks), and now I’m 10x more careful when driving now, making SURE I have the right of ways, triple checking my surroundings, and making sure I stay the speed limit. I’m sure people who have been in wrecks before know about how stressful it is to get back on the road after an accident (weather your at fault, or not). I didn’t wanna drive for like…the next 5 days, but unfortunately I work hard to pay my bills, and I can’t afford to miss a single day. Life will go on, even after the worst has happened. Thank you George Carlin for yet again making me laugh in dark times, my you rest in peace. This will pass in time I know, but it’s still freshly humiliating in my mind. Also it was good trying to vent about this. Maybe in the future this comment can help someone out who’s been involved with an accident, and they were at fault too. Remember, things can always be worse, at least we both walked away from the whole ordeal. Have a good day/night out there people, and stay safe driving out there! :)

I haven't had an accident involving another motorist yet, but I'm sure it'll happen someday. But I know that feeling of everything changing after the first ticket. After driving with a clean record for about 8-9 years I got my first speeding ticket, 16 or 17 MPH over the limit on the interstate. I almost wanted to tell the officer "you guys finally got me" and "that much for the ticket? you should see my weekly doordash bill" but I kept it respectful. Even joked to myself I'd give him a good review if there was a site where I could give feedback on traffic cops since he was friendly. That was 2 years ago, I've mostly cooled it on going that fast unless it's in line with a bunch of drivers doing the same thing, my mistake was doing it alone lol
