George Foreman is a once in a lifetime fighter. He got hit by the most dangerous men in the 60’s, 70,s, 80’s(comeback fight in 1987), and 90’s. To think he started fighting as a pro in 1969, where he had 13 pro fights that year. His last fight in 1997 was 28 years after his first in ‘69. That is phenomenal. It’s ridiculous. George Foreman is so strong and his punch resistance is incredible because he does not seem to have been affected. There is an argument to place George Foreman at number 3 in the all-time heavyweight boxer list behind Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali. George Foreman true legend of boxing.

He fought Spinks(a puffed up light heavy), and a old Larry Homes. After that; he lost to Buster douglas by KO!,Lennox Lewis by KO, Holyfield by KO. and a host of bums like danny green. @RandomLevitation Are you using some kind of timetravel, are you really saying that boxers back then at the stone age of boxing would beat boxers of today ? Fighting 7- 8 times a year doesnt make you better, it only gives you experience, And you exaggerates how many fights Ali had per year, only in 1961 Ali had more than 6 fights. And how good are those fighters he fought in 1961 ?. Wladimir Klitschko had 13 fights in his second year as pro boxer so...
@knockup100
3 жыл бұрын
@slip satch and why was they better back then ? can you come up with any explanation ? In the sports where you can measure time its clear that athletes do improve. Boxing has gone through a lot of develoment (improvements) technical and tactical. There has also been a huge development in the science about diet and nutrition. If you fight 6 to 8 times a year there wont be much time for the build up before a fight and the boxers wont be fighting at thier best. Also where would the time be for healing your injuries. And speaking about experience, does that mean if I play more soccer matches than Lionel Messi i would be at wold class level ??. Experience is a necessity but you need a lot more than just that.

Ali said Shavers was the hardest hitter he got hit by - and Quarry annilated Shavers, who was an excellent boxer. I could see Quarry doing the same to Foreman, who lost to boxers, not sluggers. And funny to hear Foreman saying nearly word for word what Larry Holmes said about getting hit by Tyson - that it doesn't hurt. "Just BOOM - and you're down, no pain at all. Tyson vs Lyle - I wish.

Also in order to make that statement you would have to conveniently and intentionally leave out WHERE Foreman was hitting Ali all night (on his body and on his arms) . @vladiator100 A panel of so-called boxing experts from "Ring Magazine" rated Louis as the #1 puncher of late, but another "Ring" panel rated Dempsey as #1 in 1960. Basically it's a subjective rating based on opinion. Still, I believe Louis did hit harder than George. Louis could turn a ko punch on a dime. He threw short punches that landed with far more authority. Watch "Joe Louis knockouts part one". Watch the shortness of punch and the impact in slowmo. Big difference!

@vladiator100 Beause the guys in the 20s & 30s didnt use weights , correct diet or conditioning , they didnt hit as quick or hard as now , or boxed @ such a intensity as now . And to compare max baer to todays big boys is a joke , Joe louis was skilled and @ Cruiser weight would of been similar to Holyfield but couldnt get bigger by weights as they were not used then . Larry Holmes Jab would of been dominant in any league table if we had a time machine ! ( my opinium ) - regards

@strictlycomments Shavers had nowhere near Foreman's chin though, a young Irishman by the name of Jerry Qyarry had an undefeated Shavers o0ut in 1 round.

@knockup100 im not talking about boxing in general just the heavyweights. and stamina wise it isnt close, the heaweights fight at a snails pace today and still gas in 5 rounds. ali and frazier fought at a middlweight pace and were still going strong in rond 15. like i said im not living in the past im fucking 16, but i love boxing, but cant stand the oversized sloppy modern heavyweights. old foreman is a perfect example of how badly boxing has declined, a champion at 45.

I was just thinking - nobody remembers Curtis Sheppard because they got hit by him...

everyone who has boxed both guys says that earnie shavers hits harder, and i know for a fact that curtis sheppard hit harder than the both of them.

Uh, yeah, you can. Foreman has the better KO percentage, the better chin and the bigger frame. What more do you want? Tyson caught opponents with speed. Foreman battered them into submission with clubbing power.

@knockup100 frazier was a blown up lhw? he was a natural 205 lbs. no weights. every hw now is a blown up cruiser except for the klits. ali and frazier got fatter later in their careers because they were broken down so much physically. their bodies have been through hell and back and couldnt take it anymore. they also didnt lift weights. they were better punchers becuase they were able to throw pucnhes properly. vitali only throws arm punches, and wlad on throws 1-2.
