February 3, 1980 - It may be counter-intuitive to consider a Hall of Famer underrated, but George Gervin may come close to fitting the bill. While mention of his name often triggers thoughts of fingerrolls and iconic Iceman-themed imagery, it's worth noting that Gervin has one of the most impressive resumes in basketball history: 12-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA First Team selections, four consecutive scoring titles (including his 1980 peak when he averaged 33.1 points per game), 16th all-time in points scored (ABA/NBA) and, as the cherry on top, an All-Star MVP award at the 1980 All-Star Game.
The league's leading vote getter, Gervin pieced together a performance that included 34 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and one cuffed hammer in the open floor, leading the East to a 144-136 victory.
