Thanks for editing and uploading this series! I’ve watched the movies so much I can literally see the shots in my head when I hear the audio

It’s interesting how dismissive Lucas was of Han and Leia’s relationship in this film. It’s consistently referred to as one of the most realistic romances in film history. Compare this to the woodenness of the Padme-Anakin relationship; to me it says that Kershner had more to do with the success of the relationship than Lucas who seems like he didn’t get it and carried that view over into the prequels. Less is more sometimes George.

But such love relationships were in American graffiti. Han and Ley's love dialogue is heavily scripted in Gone with the Wind. Moreover, it was originally written by Lucas himself in the second draft for TESB. Then Kasdan came in and polished up the original dialogue, making it more obnoxious. But the common features of Gone with the Wind remained in the final version. The love story of Anakin and Padmé is a tribute to the tabloid book. In the technical books, the love dialogue was clumsy and meaningful.

Lucas is a good idea man, but a poor director. Kershner saved the whole thing. When episode 7 came out, a perceptive critic wrote, "And, of course, Han and Leia's relationship didn't work out," which I think is yet one more piece of realism. They were a hot couple, but the grind of a long-term marriage was something they just couldn't sustain.

@@lanceash Lucas good director. American Graffiti, A New Hope, Revenge of the Sith good directing. Kershner directed best Star Wars film. Also directed more mixed films (RoboCop 2). Career Lucas and Kershner not perfection. Lucas and Kershner directed good and mixed movies.

It’s not “one of the most realistic romances in film history”, Han is like a five year old hoys idea of how to impress a girl

What was Luke Skywalker’s new nickname after Empire Strikes Back? Hand Solo!
George hated this movie as he was upstged by his own mentor Irwin Kirshner and said the film was too "dark". The film was such a success he fired him for Return of the Jedi

Literally everything you said isnt true my friend. Lucas hired him to direct principal photography of the sequel, while he shot the VFX stuff at ILM. He also had 100% creative control as financer, owner of the IP/ Production House and as the Producer of the movie. He also wanted Kersh on Return of the Jedi but he didnt want to do it, Lucas number 1 choice tho for directing "Jedi" was his pal Steven Spielberg. But he couldnt do it because Lucas quit the DGA and WGA after they became problematic during the production of Empire Strikes Back.

people may make fun of the way George Lucas pronounces "Han", but the way George says "Han" is how it's pronounced! "Han" as in "Ran" instead of "Han" as in "On" -- it's not how I've pronounced it, but since he wrote the character, he created the name . . . that's how it is, right?

George created the character. Therefore, how he pronounces it is how it is.

@@MediaBuster The producer? You do realize that George was the concept creator, writer, executive producer, and oversaw the editing for all 6 movies, along with paying for all it himself, and yet you think Gary Kurtz (who only produced two of them) was the reason the movies turned out so well.
