Not the best, and trust me, he knew who was the best, but he was different and carved out a niche all his own... I hated watching the decline of EVH, and him running all of his deserved acclaim into the ditch....George stayed solid. .Is it just me, or is the Asian guy playing like listening to Malsteen.....rinse repeat, no feeling

It’s ridiculous to say Lynch was the best. Dumb argument about guitarists but he’s nowhere near the best.
@kinkinmyslinky967

What really qualifies him as “the best?” No doubt he’s a great guitar player who’s carved out a sound and style that has inspired others for decades, but best is better than everyone past/present? I’m sure if you put George on stage with the 10 best of today’s players they would all look around and say “fuck, i don’t want to lead or flow that one!”

The fact that George Lynch build the OG "Tigerstripe" guitar for dirt cheap, with some guitar parts he got from Wayne Charvel and nowadays, an ESP custom shop "Tigerstripe" goes for thousands of $, speaks volumes on how ridiculousöy overpriced some guitars are.

he built it from scrap parts, that were otherwise thrown out and did a lot of the work himself. if he ordered it to spec and had it made to the quality expectations (no dings etc.) one would expect from a new bought instrument, it would've been a lot more expensive. also think about inflation. eddie van halen actually did the same thing, got some scraps from wayne charvel and built his franken strat from those.

Yup! I had a Charvel EVH Art Series I bought it new in 2005, I had it for years, I bought and LTD ST-203FR, it played so close to the Charvel I sold it and bought 2 more LTD’s. I never was a collector, it’s all about tone. EVH, Lynch, Rhodes has Charvel’s and Sandoval made guitars that were not even close to a thousand dollars.

Lynch is unique and his dokken solos were amazingly tasteful and delicious, simply said, that is becoming a rare commodity in the shred of today. Now that being said, Herman has amazingly melodic phrasing in the same vain of Lynch,Lee,Satriani, Vai & Buckethead! Ohh and not too sound like a broken record BUT....Buckethead and/or Jack E. This is an awesome video to listen to. I've liked George Lynch ever since I bought a Dokken album in the summer of 2000. I enjoy the saturated energy of the Mr. Scary song. I also really enjoy the soft gentle calming voice of George Lynch. George is an amazing guitarist but I think he would be amazing as an inspiring motivational speaker. I think he's got a depth of wisdom that is within him that just slowly and gently radiates out when he talks. I also enjoyed the fluid melodic music of Herman in this video. I wish these two guitarists would get together and do a podcast together as they talk about life philosophy and how music is a soul language. Now I'm daydreaming it to already exist. Please do it. The talent of these two people is obvious.

Herman is a much better guitarist than George from a technical perspective speaking but man, Goerge is way more excentric and that shows in his playing. The notes he chooses as well as his vibrato and the dirtiness of his playing is very distinctive and almost addictive.
