It definitely isn't easy to play like him. Its his memory that is funominal. Just look at how many songs this man has in his catalog. Some songs are easier than others. But, to be able to do every technique he uses is very hard. Those trills he does are so fast and when he jumps around the fetboard at light speed doing them is off the charts. Tony Fuentes, is about the only person besides Jay Parmar that even comes close. Tony, is the 80's George, while Jay is the 90's George. KXM, and Michael Sweet George, is even newer. Not to mention the all solo record stuff. I bet Damian Salazar, could pull it off but, he won't sound like George, because he has to put in all kinds of different notes that George doesn't do. But, it will sound awesome!

Yeah and with every new release his tone got better and better. Back in the day I read an article that his use to use a 50w Purple plexi that was owned by Aspen Pitman (RIP) of Groove Tubes. In the article it said George begged Aspen to sell it to him, but he never would. He did lend it to him most any time he wanted though. Now that I'm older I realize George would have sounded like George through whatever amp he used.
@jesterlead

@@twintriode Totally agree. Easily a top 3 guitarist on the rock / metal scene and his sound was absolutely the best in the business. Always felt it topped EVH even. And, all the other great (and they were great) guitarists out there like Jake E., Randy, Yngwie, Howe, Gilbert, Vai, Satriani, etc, none had a sound that blew me away - they were all technical monsters but guitar sound was not nearly as memorable or as good as George's.....

Anybody else sick of hearing about fucking EVH when we have George Lynch. Everyone loves to ride the EVH is a visionary story they been told so many times but him and George and RR were contemporaries. Listen to old Xciter demo's and you can hear George clearly has the sound EVH supposedly invented. And notice how when VH took off and EVH gets away from the scene he sounds less and less like that, meanwhile George has carried this face melting shredding EVH supposedly created his whole life. George is the better player. History is just written by the winners, and VH took off first.
@Tony78432

I’m a very big fan of Lynch and had the opportunity to have met him and he built me one of his custom guitars. Eddie pioneered an entire style and George will be the first to sing praise about Eddie and admit that he had to innovate his own style in order to hold his own. I think it’s an apples and oranges comparison. Music isn’t a contest and entirely subjective in the ear of the listener. I love both but George certainly takes the page in my book, his playing is entirely unique in my opinion. A separate animal from EVH.

the Jeff Beck of my generation, though George is considerably older the age group the hair metal community considers their peers. None the less, George has wider grasp of technique and genre styles, plus an unknown amount of time spent crafting his personal"sound", that allows him such praise from the guitar and music communities that are very aware of the standout's in this category of musician's.

It's always an amazing experience when they surprise you with the note progressions. Just when you think you know where the solo is going (or even possibly the very next note), it takes a completely different turn, thus throwing you off. The first big time I've experienced this was when I was younger and first heard TooL - Right In Two in the opening riff. Adam Jones has a 3 set piece of 3 notes for the main riff; the first set ends on a high note, the second with a low note, and I originally expected the 3rd set to end on an even lower note, but he brings it back up to a higher note which completely through me off course and I immediately loved the song!
