Why on Earth would he regret writing an anti war song? That as to to be the most ridiculous question ever asked. George, we all knew what a good job you'd done and that it was the right thing to do. I'm so glad you did, it showed us another side of you, it showed your compassion for your fellow man that wasn't emotionally connected, like your music, but was still hugely relevant.

Joanne Adair ~ It is a VERY pertinent question ~ Since he got raked over the coals & SO SLANDERED for it....some artists would completely lose their fans & careers over doing such a thing ... & you are speaking truth to power - which is one of the MOST dangerous things anyone can ever do...as those people can "make you disappear" in a heartbeat ! ( Martin Luther King, JFK, Malcolm X, Ghandi, Benazire Bhuto, Stephen Biko) Kudo's to George for doing the right thing - not knowing how it would affect him ! There is that whole backlash thing - "Just shut up & sing" But...HE WAS COMPLETELY RIGHT !

To a man whom stood for his freedom, his believe's, and was given the talent to give the world his music. His lyrics and written songs That if you really listened that he was always given his fans more than great songs he was really given us a small piece of whom he was on his terms. And how he was feeling and what was or had been going on in his life to some degree. He was still very deserving to keep what he wanted of his private life just that. The media I agree go out of the way to make mountains out of mole hills I wish to thank George's family and close friends that where loyal to him for being true to him. George I wish to thank you for sharing your talent mind and soul through your music and songs. I'm 50 years old and it still moves my soul in ways that I have never felt before. It is helping me find me in some ways. My bucket list after I reach heaven is to shake your hand and say thank you.

I think that is one reason I have a special place in my heart for George is because all he ever wanted was to be loved the way he loved others. I can relate because I have never felt loved. George had so much love to give. And it was sad because as soon as Wham split, Andrew moved away and George invited him to come join him many times but he turned down the invitation, so in Dec. of 2016 when Andrew received a gift from George, he called on the 25th to thank him and it was too late...
@ChloeR-vt4bh

Sorry, but that’s not quite right. Andrew did move away, but George states in interviews (Andrew does too), that they saw each other and stayed in touch throughout George’s life. I only heard a radio interview last week where George said Andrew was staying at his house and that was dated 2007.

@@ChloeR-vt4bh I'm only going by what George said In a book. That they argued quite a bit before the split and afterward George asked Andrew many times to join him on stage and most of the time he said no. I don't mean to offend anyone.💕

I believe that what an artist goes through isn't God will. Artist pays a heavy price. Michael Jackson said and some of what happened to him .It all ends the same, broke, mental challenge, and death! That's not God will only Satan! Just look at our artists even George Michael, he wasn't happy and he hide away from the world, his story was sad and I love him still.It all ends the same. With pain!

RE: Elvis Presley: 1) He was NOT stupid, he was raised to be a Southern Gentleman--those types of people are NOT pushy types, they are polite almost to their own detriment. He, too, wanted to please his fans. He would have to rent out the entire theater in order to just go see a simple movie!! Guess everyone forgot about that! He was mobbed everywhere he went!! 2) Back in the 50's and 60's YOU did not and were not allowed to write YOUR own ticket, period! Also there was no such thing as a song: "I want your sex either"--Had Elvis done something like that, probably he would have been murdered by "anti-fans"--because down south, people can be very brutal and nasty. Look what happened to Jerry Lee Lewis--after his trip to London?? 3) I think GM is taking it for granted that times changed by the time HE arrived on the music scene. He has gotten away with a lot of stuff and someone managed to maintain his popularity. I do enjoy SOME of his music, there are times when he is so humble--he is almost arrogant. This is one of those times. GM cannot compare himself to Elvis Presley, as EP lived in different times, different standards, and even EP got into trouble for too much sensuality by parents and authorities of his day. I think GM has benefitted from the looser standards of today. IF GM lived during EP's time and had to compete, he would be banned for half of his music. EP's music is squeaky clean and no foul language. NOT putting GM down--just saying--there is a difference. I am an Elvis fan, and I still remember where I was when HIS death was announced. I am 59 years old, just 6 months older than GM. RIP GM--I miss you as much as I miss Elvis too. In peace, from USA
@ChloeR-vt4bh

I don’t think he meant any offence to Elvis or that Elvis was stupid. It sounds to me more like he was saying people who are maybe naive get exploited by those who only want to make money from them. That’s what he said in my view. Elvis wasn’t a fool but he wasn’t highly educated and he was very young when fame hit. You don’t think ‘Colonel’ Tom Parker totally took advantage of him? EP hated most of those movies he did but he went along with them because Parker bullied him into it. Guess who made most of the money out of EP’s career. I believe that’s all GM was saying. He was clearly an Elvis fan and said so several times over the years.
@michellereed5638
24 күн бұрын
@@ChloeR-vt4bh Yes, you are right about GM being an Elvis fan. I know that some people in the business in England say that GM is the Elvis of England. Which I cringe at that comparison. AS I do not know if that is due to HIS vocal talent or what is the comparison? If it is vocal only--I do readily agree. AS both singers could sing anything--and sound heavenly. Elvis was very religious and had a deep faith in God. GM was an atheist and said so. They are very different people. Col. Tom Parker drove EP to his grave, even he hand picked the MD's who over prescribed RX's to keep EP going. Today most of those same RX's that killed him are OTC today or no longer in use! EP never used street drugs!! GM did! Yet people have this misconception that EP died from drug use--he died while exerting himself on the toilet--and had a heart attack. He had a bad heart--heart disease genetically ran in his family. As a medical professional I understand this well. GM died from the damage done to his body by the use of cocaine and overuse of Marijuana--and a high fat diet. It caused enlargement of his heart, compromised his lungs, and damaged his liver. How the two men are alike is how they were both hoodwinked into signing contracts by dubious people. GM was enslaved by a record company from age 18 and even at age 35 could not get out from under it! Had he fought that lawsuit in America, he might have won his case, having no parents to support him, it is not legal for minors in America to sign most contracts without a legal guardian's approval. EP got hoodwinked by Co. Tom Parker. He was used until death do us part. At least GM finally got control of his music, but it spurred HIM to start giving money to charity--to avoid giving it to his record company. I guess this is how I see the difference. EP gave people lots of things too, but kept it so secret, that only if you read people's books about him, do you ever find out about his charitable acts. It is still that way today about him. EP did not have the same income at the time of his death that GM had, most of that income was generated AFTER his death. I take your point seriously and thank you for your comment.

I do think he took his own advice. He had other issues that he dealt with and I think a lot of it stemmed from depression. He never went down that path to sell his soul to what he calls that money making machine. This is the reason I feel besides some bereavement and losses that he only released five Studio albums. That being said, those albums we're beyond exceptional, all of them. He took his time in between to experience life besides just constantly making music. After his battles with the record industry he ended up being free, being his own boss and doing things on his terms. That is what I got out of what he said in this interview.
