When it's working there's two on the footplate. When I've seen this work of art move shunting there's just the driver .

I have a question... with water that woukd be inside the pistons, how did they get out? And if there aren't any drain cocks, how are they not ruptured?

Water doesn’t go into the pistons, it gets boiled in the boiler and the resulting steam is injected into the pistons.

@@TeardropLabs Not true. Steam sent to cold cylinders condensates and at worse, blows the cylinder top/bottom. Somewhere down the road this was discovered and soon taken care of.
