What model nrx are you using man? ie 802sjwr, 822sdsr for example. Curious as I currently use a 4000fe with 842s/mr and 2500 certate16 with 802s/jwr as my mulloway lure setups. Both fantastic rods, but yet to be stretched with the 842 combo ....I doubt it will ever be put to it's limits with my Georges ghost hunting journey to be honest. Both combos are adequate for up to 80cm, with the 842 having far greater bottom end. Yet to crack a 1m+ Georges ghost on either of my nrx lure setups/combos. Have you looked at Wilson Fishing's Venom range?

@ShroomFishing
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you mate! I was using something like 10lb/12lb Daiwa Evo (don't quote me on that!) and 14lb Sunline FC Rock leader. The 4-7kg rod is more than enough if you're playing the fish. Obviously you need to give the fish some space to run and not have immediate snags or structure in the way. They will wear themselves out after about 10-15 mins with moderate pressure

What kilo rating rod are you using in this video??
Shroom that's a good fish but what you were doing was REALLY, REALLY dangerous. You don't have to have heavy cloud above you, and it doesn't matter wether you've seen lightning or not . You could have been zapped. Years ago on Glenbawn dam with a mate there was a storm, but the dark clouds looked like they were at least 5 km away. We had only white clouds above us and all we could hear was distant thunder. We were aware of the fact storm's are dangerous but thought we still had heaps of time. The sun was actually out. The next thing we new there was a blinding flash and my mate was blown overboard. I hit the console of the boat and fractured a rib. My Prized IMX Loomis that was in the vertical rack had taken the hit and there was just the butt section left. The mono on the reel was one melted blob. If not for the fact that we were in an aluminium boat ( which creates what's known as a Faraday shield and guides all the current away from its interior), we'd have both been killed. On that riverbank without any boat to protect you, you'd be a goner. And I can't emphasise this enough, we thought the danger was miles away at the time. So we ended up in hospital, me for my rib and my mate was being treated for the other kind of shock. PLEASE, pin this comment so the others watching this don't take the same risk. And remember, no one ever expects to have an accident, that's what an accident is.!!!!!!!. 😱😱😱😱😱😱

@ShroomFishing IVE FOUND WHEN THE FISH ARE THERE BUT ARE NOT EATING OR COMMITING PROPERLY WHEN THEY STRIKE IF A PUT A BOMBER ON (FLOATING HARDBODY THAT DIVE TO 1M OR THE 1.4 METERE ONES) THAT WILL EXCITE THEM ENOUGH TO STRIKE & STRIKE HARD!. WHEN THAT HAPPENS I AUTOMATICALLY UO SIZE MY BAIT & MY GEAR FOR 9 OUT OF 10 WHEN THAT HAPPENS U HAVE BIG FISH THERE NOT SOAPIES. I LERNT IT FROM DOING THAT WITH KINGS AT THE SPITT AT BEAUTY BAY (NICE SPOT BRO! BIG FLATHEAD & PLENTY OF SURFACE ACTION WITH MACKS & KINGS TILL 10AM). AND THE GEAR I USE THERE AT GEORGES RIVER AT THAT SPOT IS 10KG STICK TO 15KG STICK & A 4000 SEDONA ON THE 10KG ROD IS PERFECT (DRAG SAME PRESSURE AS ROD) NOTHING FANCY ITS FOR ANYTHING FROM 5KGS TO 1OKGS FISH WISE & I USE A 8000 TWIN POWER ON THE 15KG ROD FOR U NEED TO UNDERSTAND U CAN CATCH 30 KG FISH THERE! MOST DONT KNOW CAUSE THEY NEVER LAND THEM, NORMALLY LOST IN 1ST 10 SEC! (BOAT NEEDED) BUT IN GENREL I LIKE TO FISH LIGHT SO ILL ALLWATS START WITH A 8KG ROD WITH A 4000 REEL & 15 POUND LINE & BELIEVE IT OR NOT 12 TO 15 POUND SUNELINE NO STRETC LEADER. YOU GET WAY MORE BIGHTS THE LIGHTER U GO BUT AS U KNOW THE MORE CHAMCE OF LOOSING IT. BUT MOST DAYS THERE UNDER 5KGS & WONT BIGHT ON ANYTHING ABOVE 12 POUND MONO MAIN LINE & LEADER OR EVEN THIN BRAID WITH A LEADER ABOVE Q2 POUND THEY WONT TOUCH! (MOST DAYS) BUT I HAVE THE LUXURY OF GETTING DOWN LOW & STANDING IN KNEE HITE WATER AT TIMES DEPENDING ON THE TIDE , THAT ALLOWS ME TO B ON THE FURTHEST POINT IN THE WATER THERE IN THAT SPOT & PLAY THE FISH OUT! THATS WHY I CAN GO LIGHT & ALLSO GET BIGHTS ALL THE TIME & LAND THEM TO. TRUST ME THERE ALLWAYS THERE AT SOME POINT OF EACH TIDE ALLWAYS

There's something special about chasing jewies on lures even though I've got more when I'm not trying lol..try to replicate it 0 haha

Haha I'm the complete opposite. Up until last year, I hadn't ever caught one as bycatch on lures and only ever when I was targeting them. Funny how that works!

I get afraid standing so close to the waters edge there, feels like you can slip straight into some deep stuff with possible sharks lol. I'll try stand closer but I need to use heavier gear there I reckon

@ShroomFishing THANKS FOR UR REPLY BRO 👍 HEY I UNDERSTAND WHAT UR SAYING SAFTY 1ST. IF U GO TO THE TACKLE SHOP U GET SHOES (SMALL BOOT) THERE WATER PROOF & ALLSO HAVE THE METAL SPIKES BUILT INTO THE SHOE SO U CAN ALLWAYS MAINTAIN GRIP ON THE ROCKS. I KNOW ITS VERRY SLIMY ON THEM ROCKS BUT IF U GO ON LOW TIDE THE SUN WILL DRY IT UP A COUPLE OF HOURS SO ULL GET TO FISH THE LAST 3 HOURS OF FALLING TIDE ; LOW TIDE & 3 HOURS OF COMING UP SAFELY.IF U STILL DONT WANT TO GET DOWN THERE TRY MOOVING SLIGHTLY TO A PLASE WHERE U CAN & CAST TO UR SPOT FROM THE LEFT OR RIGHT IF THATS PISSIBLE OFCOURSE. AS FOR UR GEAR PEOPLE ARE SAYING TO GRADE UP, TELL ME WHAT ARE U USING LINE WISE & REEL WISE & ROD WISE IN KG ECT
