@t1tacal oh, yes. France. Are you truly trying to compare France with the US? The French school system is different from the US system. The beginning of the school year is done by zones, which means that not all students will start at the same time and that means that it's possible to mitigate aspects such as classroom numbers related to children. Then there's also the universal health system that does not exist in the US. Furthermore, the use of mask is mandatory in public spaces and even in private such as stores, schools and other services. So yes, as much as you would like to have schools opening in the US, that is the biggest can of worms to be forced open. And the truth is if you guys had had a proactive approach towards Covid since, let's say April, instead of politicizing a damn virus, probably the opening of schools wouldn't be an issue.

The research is on the CDC and they tell you every day, who the high risks deaths are! 8 out of 10 are 65 or older, so 80% of the very very low death rate is 65 or older. Almost all the rest of Cv19 deaths had underlying medical conditions like: Cancer, kidney disease, Obesity, heart conditions, diabetes, etc. So this Teacher(actor) and her 4 year old's risk of Cv19 death is 0.0001% , virtually NO RISK! It's not possible to stop the spread of these types of viral outbreaks, only prolong the inevitable infections. They are the most contagious pathogens on the planet and are completely ubiquitous (everywhere and unavoidable) The longer people prolong the spread the greater the non covid excess deaths will accumulate to an exponential factor. The good news is covid19 has an extremely low virulence rate, in the order of a 99.8 - 99.7% recovery rate. In other words, we isolate the very high risk population and allow the virus to pass through the healthy immunity to acquire natural antibody T-Cell immunization as quickly as possible so the high risk quarantined can live normal lives before they die of other natural causes. (It's ridiculose to think it's possible to see zero cases, we are living with no less then 7 corona viruses right now) I'ts criminal and shameful what's going on in the world right now with all the mass numbers of healthy and young isolating not allowing herd immunity to accumulate at a normal rate to protect the vulnerable, old and immunocompromised population. globalnews.ca/news/7085775/coronavirus-vaccine-false-hope/

But teacher are being forced. Now do you get it? As to why the “teachers union” isn’t standing up for the teachers of Georgia: Georgia is a “right to work” state. Of the approximately 118,000 teachers in Georgia, only about 30,000 are members of the Georgia Association of Educators, which does not engage in collective bargaining per se. Teachers are prohibited from striking by state law. Their only recourse is to work or resign. If they resign, they risk getting blackballed and never getting another teaching job, almost certainly not in Georgia. Union busting has gone way too far in this country. We need more and stronger unions for almost all professions in every state. There were undoubtedly excesses on the part of some unions in the past, but we threw out the baby with the bath water. Almost all power now resides in the hands of owners, CEOs and administrators. And screw Ronald Reagan for getting the ball rolling.

The only people who know are the principal, assistant principal and office staff. We had a 28-week preemie this summer, and her lungs are damaged. That's the problem with opening schools. So now, people in situations like ours have to consider resignation for the sake of safety, taking unpaid medical leave (yet somehow it's possible she might have to write sub plans still??) or pray. I’m from Georgia, live just outside of Atlanta. My step mom and multiple family friends are/were teachers. Out of all the messed up decisions made regarding school, there’s one that stand out the most and insults me to my core... the schools only recommended students wear masks, yet they’re mandatory for teachers and staff. People, stop and think about the logic behind this! When a person wears a mask, it’s only helping to prevent the wearer from exposing others. It doesn’t protect the wearer. Translate that into English and you get the very clear message from the county/district: teachers and staff, we don’t give a damn about your health. To the students, we don’t give a damn about your health. What we do care about is protecting our own asses from any future liability claims. When kids or staff start dying, the county wants to show they ‘did all they could’ by making staff wear masks! The fact that they make these mandates expecting no one will notice their true intent infuriates me to a level I can’t describe! These actions border on criminal!

When you wear it, it seals you from head to toe like an astronaut. Its uncomfortable though but works . Kinda pricy but good. You need to buy many. @@adiaarau4463 Not everyone is a teacher but not everyone at home is a nurse or a doctor either. I doubt anyone would be happy if they brought the virus back home with them and a few members of the household ended up seriously ill, around the same time. Student or not, we expect kids to do the right thing when adults can't even do that. One hopes they will keep their masks on indoors, in a class setting and do the hand washing and not share food during lunchtime. Indoors, if one child removes their mask or does not have it on correctly and just happens to be infected the virus will remain in the air, in an enclosed environment for 3 hours. And someone may inhale the virus even with a surgical mask on. Only an N-95 mask prevents the inhalation of the virus and the majority of the masks you are seeing are not N-95's. Schools conducting temperatures checks is great idea but a child need not have a temperature to be infectious. I am a nurse and not a parent. Just a person who believes in science. And people can be reinfected.

When I was in boarding school , we had a vicious spread of Conjunctivitis. 48/52 of us got it within 4 days . I didn't ( I avoided it because I had it once as a child and made sure I wouldn't get it again). Students who were not given permission to go home prior literally walked up to infected people , took gunk out of their eyes and put it on theirs. The rest barely had any hygiene to stay away from Conjunctivitis. We were all around 17 years old , and many of them went on to medical school. If that's the case for kids almost out of schools , and also those who are intelligent and mature, what do you think is going to happen with anyone below the age of 12? No matter how smart or well-meaning your children are , you cannot dictate how children will behave in a group setting. There will be some 10 year old who will call the ones who wear a mask a coward , and that child who wore the mask will remove it and go get themselves infected to prove they are not weak. For the love of God , keep your children in your house. Do not make them martyrs for political gains.

@Tingle Matthews mate , I don't give a shit what you believe. Realise that people wanted to go home( we used to have permission to go every second Friday weekend) and the reasoning our school used to give for not being let go home was that home was too far away. Saturdays used to be working for us(except 2nd, most months this would be working too ) , a person who had to travel more than 3-4 hours to reach home would usually not be given permission to leave because they would only return on Tuesday or Wednesday. We used to have "special" classes just to ensure kids did not get to go home. People got desparate , I don't exactly blame them. A friend of mine went home after 6 months because he purposefully infected himself. He lived 9 hours by train away. On paper it's only close to 150+ miles (380+km) , but to travel in my part in India , it would take that much time.
