It is so nice to be able to hear this author discuss her book, Horse. It was an interesting read that kept your attention from the beginning to the end. Great interview! Reading a few comments of negative people is disappointing.😢 Thanks for this interview! I always enjoy listening to the writers of books that I read. Horse! A wonderful and interesting historical fiction.

Very good book. Just finished reading it. I appreciate Ms. Brooks' committment to the significant historical facts, as well as her not flinching at the reallities of contemporary race relations. Well worth reading.

The show scene is no different than the racing scene. Horses are the most abused domesticated animal in the world. Horse owners claim to love their horses, but their love reminds me of the Tina Turner movie, What's Love Got to Do With It? Most horse-human relationships are the definition of abuse. From the tack to the basic handling, the relationship is based on control founded on the principle of pain.

I agree. Horses are not made to lope/canter slower than the speed of a walk and with their heads near the ground. I could go on and on. The insanity will only stop if the judges quit rewarding this horrible fad.

There we go --- the awkward, contrived, stilted language required of contemporary literary figures: exquisitely sensitive.
