Fascinating. I've had mine for about six years and it's as sharp and kick ass as ever.

Mine has no problems either so you sound like maybe you have just some kind of a bias or issue and that's very weird for you to have some kind of issue with machetes.....are you a year later?

I wish I had seen this vid before purchasing my 'Gator' machete. Like you, I found the blade unusable after a week of light use. Absolute bag of crap. I returned it to the store (Mitre 10 in New Zealand) and they refunded my purchase without hassle. Flaxen Saxon.

My smaller version is similar it is very soft , not as bad as yours buy I agree the steel is not so good. I read somewhere the Chinese made ones are using inferior quality steel compared to the US made earlier versions . How is you bolo holding up is it the Tramontina 14?

I was considering ordering that a while ago because my dad had the same one but I decided to get the ka bar kukri instead. It was way more expensive and It's kinda heavy but it's strong and sharp enough to chop down a tree and even shave with so I think I made the right decision.

My Gerber Gator 12" ended up the same way from hacking weeds down in my yard for 2 hours. The cheapo Colombian machetes I have never had these types of issues.

I have the smaller one and had the same issues +rusted af. You can hammer the blade to be somewhat straight and use an angle grinder to sharpen it, that is what i did :P Still works fine, i use it all the time. Meanwhile trying not to cut rocks with it hehe

I just bought one the day prior to this comment. I wanted it mostly to beat the snot out of it and not cry about it. I will get a better quality one but this one and the Harbor Freight one are there for some down and dirty fun.

I'm a MTB'er too and saw this in a local shop I bought it. Mine looked like this after 30 minutes of use and it was on light dry brush no thicker than a finger. This IS a total POS and I'll never buy another Gerber product because of it. Too bad, because I have had several of their knives and was always pretty well pleased by them. This however is a Total Rip Off.

Very few blades can take the hit of a stone. This blade must be either really bad or was used very heavily.

Voyd Naught how else would I know you hit a stone? Not saying this was a good blade especially since your saw went dull in one use and the handle got loose. I would go for a hansa blade which is cheap and sturdy. Just don’t hit anything hard like a rock.

Voyd Naught That is a good price for a blade. If you have to pay more than 20 pounds it’s not worth it.

Man this is ridiculous look at the blade in that thumbnail or whatever LOL looks like the dude took the machete and smacked it against a metal pole or something ....there is no way wood did that man LOL I kind of Wonder do you have something against Gerber something? I didn't watch the whole video but I just wanted to see what you hit with that thing I still don't know but it definitely was more than wood lol if you need anything more from a machete than this machete here has to offer you your doing some way extra stuff that you definitely don't need to be using a machete for

Lol @ light brush clearing. 🩲🔥 It would be straightforward to measure the amount of force required to roll the blade like this. Unlikely any light bush clearing can result in this level of blade rolling.
