Wish I were as intelligent as Buchloch presents himself to be

In going beyond the usual references, GR moves art. Very elusive and difficult to grasp.

it kills me that Buchloch is "mansplaining" to Richter about his own works

Richter welcomes it obviously. He wouldn't have maintained this dialogue with this one person for literally decades now, were it not for the constructive value of the conversations he has with this man. He's clearly eager to hear what Buchloh is thinking.

If you think artists always ‘know’ the significance, the ‘meaning’, even the intention of their own works you are astoundingly naive. In fact the greater the artist, the more expansive and open is the critical dialogue. Sensitive, intelligent, artists welcome such dialogue.
