Wow, glad you finally made a video on the Violectric amps. The V222 and V2** series amps are the spiritual successors to the older V281 sound. Tubey sounding solid state amps with rolled off highs for 0 fatigue. I personally have a V550 but I loved the V222 and wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I had a V222 but found the highs a bit lacking. Eventually wound up getting a V550, which is such a pleasure. The V550 is a keeper

The unit has what looks like 4 seperate amps for each input, it uses a well known volume control by Alps probably 50kOhm, two Power regulators on heatsink rear right probably for the OpAmps, two gain select seperate opamp, rear middle, The output amplifier looks to use LEDSs as a constant current bias source for the output stage, interesting that the output stage has 4 power transistors each, maybe used to cut down the output impedance which is interesting, each output has a Opamp as an input, I presume the unit is DC coupled for wider Frequency response especially at the low end, Power supply is well suppressed at least 8 main large Electrolytics, I noted there's 4 large Electrolytics that might be used in the output on each amplifier stage?, Without a diagram I take a good guess at what I see, As a Aerospace Defence Qualification Verification Electronics Consultant I built my own Headphone Amplifier for around £100 / $126, Class A output Stage using LED's Biased, Alps 50k Ohm volume control no input gain control, option to place a DAC with a ES9023, timer circuit with relay in the output stage for the removal of the thud when first switched on, inputs RCA 2 in 2 out, USB B DAC input, I wired my RCA's for DAC output RCA then RCA to Volume control wiper, with a RCA link at the rear to link DAC Output RCA from the rear to RCA input, reason why is so that I can try other DAC's out, similar Power transformer, mine was 15v 0 15v wired to give 30V output into a bridge rectifier & smoothed by 6 Electrolytics 3 positive 3 negative supply rails etc, I must admit that I enjoy building & testing that's been my life for many year's, I worked in Professional Audio Video sales & service for many years, The unit you have looks definitely well built, 👍

I just bought a Violectric DHA 380 m2 a week ago and it literally turned up 1 day before this video after waiting 12 months for a few more reviews.. gave up waiting lol. Tested heaps of other all in ones .. it’s beats the Shiite out of them for the price range. It’s basically the 340, with a ESS based dac with dual 9028pro chips per channel. And it has the XLR, 4.4 pentacon and 6.3 SE now. I don’t know how, but it makes my HD600’s sound as good or better than my Arya Stealths WTF

@@viencarlodiego8842 I also tried the Vio DHA V226, but it just didn’t have the same detail, I think the dac let’s it down, and it only has usb input. The 380 m3 has usb b, coax, toslink, rca inputs, still no balanced but doesn’t need it because the dac is fine. It also has pentacon and XLR headphone outputs where the 340 doesn’t ..

the old Violectrics were the closest you could get to the "tube" sound in a SS amp. The newer ones are very clean and neutral. Amazing amps and I think its a shame that more people don't talk about them. I have both the V22 and the legendary Tank of an amp V281.

Do you think v222 performs on par with V281 ? I am hoping to get a pure amplifier also !
@SIZLL
Жыл бұрын
@@GMT2019 yes I do. I slightly prefer the warmth and soundstage of the v281, (I got the v281 used for around the same price as a brand new v222 which is a steal) BUT the V222 is perfectly neutral with some great slam. It brings out the best out of any headphone. The trickled down technology of the niimbus really shows in the v222. It can handle and play 99% of headphones and imo it’s a must have and definitely the best amp at the 1k price range. I have the hifiman he6se V2 which is one of the hardest to drive headphones in the world and the V222 handles it like it’s nothing.

Get a top-of-the-line PC power supply unit, open it up, and you will find similar components as those 3-5k + priced amps, then you look back at the price tag, you would find PC power units are 1 digit less expensive than those super inflated amps price, and you can't convince that your ear is more sensitive, and need more expensive amps than those 5Ghz, 1k watts processors.

Heard these two at a show recently. V340 sounded mushy and dull to me, sort of like a bad tube amp - at least by comparison to the V222 which sounded much clearer and more normal. HE1000 v2 and Meze Empyrean/109 did not sound good on the V340. My 5cent.

I built my own class A headphone Amplifier around £100 parts, but far cheaper out there, mine was with case, if I say marked on the PCB was A2 you may have see this unit on ebay as a kit ES9023 DAC PCB can be fitted on 3 x 15mm standoffs, check on the right way of those input smoothing caps, the markings are all on the PCB watch out for LED positioning, I wouldn't say its all Audiofile component's, I stood my 10 Ohm output resistors about 1cm off the PCB just incase the outputs ever went, then I don't ever get a burnt PCB, the unit has two pots for regulators +15v & -15v for Opamps, Mount front and rear connectors switches on panels then you then solder up on PCB, double side PCB so desoldering is not so easy without the right equipment, Lots of Headphone Amplifier kits out there, Amazon & Ebay if you wish to buy a kit, there's a Ti Headphone Amplifier out there that's got a very impressive fast rise, TPA6120A2 but its a special solder job for that as it has a centre pad to use the PCB as a heat sink, you probably need a rework heat gun for that or maybe a hot plate, problem is with surface mounted component's you need special tools & equipment, I do prefer though hole component's for sure, good luck but if you like kits then for sure its a cheaper way, good point here check your output offset with a DMM prior to plugging in headphones which should be less than
