The song tells about a historical episode of the Polish-German war in September 1939, which is called the Battle of Wizna. Indeed, the Polish forces were much weaker, there were 40 German soldiers for every Polish soldier. The Polish forces lasted 3 days, and the commanding captain, Raginis (which, by the way, is a Lithuanian surname) committed suicide not wanting to be taken prisoner. The German side was commanded by the legendary armor specialist - General Heinz Guderian. That's why in our national mythology we call it "Polish Thermopylae" Here's a quote from Wikipedia. pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obrona_Wizny
@BuffaloSoldierPL

I believe that the 40:1 is death ratio in that battle. The actual disproportion of the forces was even bigger up to about 60:1 with the tank crews, luftwaffe and artillery summed up, but i might be wrong about that.

You should react to their sabaton history channel they go in depth about the history and a little about the song itself This song is about the battle of wizna where 720 polish soldiers (with no real anti tank equipment) held out for 3 days against the german army 40,000 strong with air support and hundreds of tanks captain reginis said he would face his fate there and after 3 days he ordered his men to surrender after running out of ammo but true to his word captain reginis killed himself by clutching a grenade in his command bunker

You should first check the lyrics, before listening to such songs. And the lyrics should also be visible to the viewers. Because without the lyrics it doesn't really make sense. You could make maybe a video about two more songs of Sabaton - titled "Uprising" and "Winged Hussars", next time maybe with the lyrics in the subtitles. I like the best "Uprising". And "Winged Hussars" - a song is with a music video.

Sabaton has a few more songs about Polish history, if you want to make a longer video, you can also check out "Sabaton History", videos made in collaboration of Sabaton and WW2 every day channels, who often discuss the history behind certain songs. - 4859 - About an officer that volunteered to be captured in Auschwitz, gathered intelligence, then escaped from it. - Uprising - About the warsaw uprising.

"I'm not excited as I would be if it was about German history." I hate to break it to you, but it totally IS about German history. Your education system really sucks, because the most important episodes in it (and the September Campaign 1939 in Poland certainly IS one of them!!!) are not covered properly in your secondary education. You're lucky then that you're smart enough to educate yourself, but kid yourself not: this is a video about GERMAN history.

@@chris.poland To begin with; I am certainly NOT referring to the Holocaust. Your response confirms entirely what I said about your ignorance. Where did I say you should be sad? I said you're IGNORANT of large parts of German history regarding of what REALLY happened in Poland. You have NO CLUE., Which is not your fault, because your education system truly sucks - majorly - when it comes to pretty much everything to do with Poland, but insisting on this ignorance by openly deflecting that parts fo German history that make you "sad" and sticking only to those that you "excited" certainly is your own fault and your entire personal refusal to grow up. If you want to grow up, I suffuse starting with reading wikipedia in English ONLY (because the German one tends to be as absurd your media and education system). And read at least one single book before attempting to write long comments on subjects you clearly known NOTHING about. You're very lucky because 'The Polish Way' by a popular and loved British historian, Adam Zamoyski, is easy to read, entire history of Poland in the last thousand years. Oh and maybe this will help you grasp what I'm talking about and stop writing highly offensive, empathy-lacking comments: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s56rz2uCqqdqh44

I see some replies were removed from your comment, but I 100% agree with you. Almost all the Germans I've met online have no clue about what their grandparents and parents did in Poland during WW2, not to Jews but to ethnic Poles. What's worse is that if you bring it up in any way the most disgusting and disturbing side of them usually comes out, and they become Nazi like themselves, spewing hatred, ignorance, racist Polonophobic hatred.

Just one tip: if You make reaction to a song next time, remember that the automatic translations of lyrics are completely wrong. For instance here - in 7:03 - in Polish version of automatically generated subtitles - it's completely absurd translation: "no worries can enter into this life, protected by fish, unless they have 40 to 1" (the rest is similar). So the lyrics should be checked earlier, for instance at some special websites with translations of song lyrics. It's like translations of a poem - it just cannot be done automatically.

They have some songs about Germany too ofc because of WW1 and WW2. You can check out their song "Wehrmacht", "The Red Baron" or "Hearts of Iron" for example. I think Hearts of Iron is interesting because its about the end of the war in Germany but "The Red Baron" has a great animated history video together with the song so that might be a good one as well.
