"Soldiers' graves are the greatest preachers of peace" ~ Albert Schweitzer
In November 2020, I visited the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn, Limburg, Netherlands. It is the only German war cemetery in the Netherlands. There are more than 30,000 graves of the Second World War, and also a few German graves from the First World War, when the Netherlands where neutral.
I didn't do much documentation work before going here. There are graves of simple soldiers who died during battle, there are also graves of nazi Germans. I didn't go in the detail of the stories of those people who were buried here, maybe for a next video. The message I wanted to convey is that war is always a tragedy, and that remembering that people died will help us to avoid other wars.
