I have a German wirehair female. I have had labs, and border collie's in the past. My wirehair is just as intelligent as any of my previous dogs. My female { Shatzi } has an incredibly strong hunting drive, and has been trained to hunt upland game. She vigorously searches, points, and retrieves perfectly. She is very friendly, even loving to family, and even my small grand kids. Shatzi is now 10 1/2 years old and still very healthy. My wife and I are very attached to her, and she to us. Shatzi is very obiediant. I highly recommend this breed to anyone who has enough room, and wants an active dog.

DUKE, was my pure breed GWP. He was very sweet, happy, intelligent and athletic. Everyone who saw him wanted to give him kisses. He loved car rides. He knew exciting destinations were coming. Woof Woof ! He lived almost sixteen years. I miss him so much and I will never forget him. I’ll see you later DUKE. Rick

Gday I’m an Aussie, I had GSPs for 30 years wonderful dogs . I purchased my first GWP when my last GSP was aging, Milo was his name an absolutely beautiful nature and so easy to train, he passed in 2017 . So I purchased another GWP male , and what a prick of a bastard he was at 4 years of age he grabbed my wrist as I was getting into my car , wouldn’t let go . It took me 10 minutes of talking quietly to him and stroking his head with my other hand , by the time he let go my wrist was cut to the bone and blood everywhere, it looked like scissors had cut me from both sides 21/2 hours in the operating theatre to repair the damage , I never lost my cool with him , seven months later at a friends house where we had been staying for a week, I was nursing a young Labrador and after seeing this for a week my GWP grabbed the Labrador in my arms and killed it whilst in my arms with the Labrador shredding my face with its teeth because it was in such pain My dog was shot an hour later Another GWP in Australia grew up with a young baby , when the dog was 31/2-4 years old it attacked the toddler and killed the baby GWP are not what you say , you are misleading people, I have life long scars from my second one and a family still mourns the lose of a young child by the teeth of a GWP So don’t tell lies TELL the truth They are able to be unpredictable killers

I think it might be the people not the dogs, my gwp sees hundreds of people daily and has never had a problem..

@@kylepickett2390 They don’t call the GWP the Pit Bull of hunting dogs for no good reason It’s not necessary the people, whilst i agree some people should not own any form of animal I had never been bitten by any dog in my life , except for my own GWP , it may have been genetic traits of his line I’m not sure But my first GWP went everywhere with me played with strange children on beaches , lived on a game fishing boat for 4 years , but my second one I just couldn’t trust him near children or strangers Which is unfortunate
