I can relate to this story to a certain extent. My father was one of the Poles taken by the Nazis, to serve as forced labour in Germany. He was 15 years old when he was taken from his home, a small farm about 90 kilometers or so north of Warsaw. He spent 2 years in Germany before he escaped and made his way back to Poland, where he spent the rest of the war fighting with the partisans followed by a spell drafted into the American army on repatriation. At the end of the war, dad was shipped to England, where he met my mother, whom he married and, with whom, he had three lovely lads, me being the middle one.

There are no words to convey what I feel, maybe sickened of the fact that a human could butcher people with no remorse, no conscious. I think my point of my comment was that if you ask anyone what happened in WWII ? Overwhelming the answer would be 6 million Jews were gassed. If I day “did you know 6 million catholic polish people were murdered?” They all answer “No” But there are so many more crimes against humanity that went on to so many races and religions countries destroyed and these testaments, like your own, will never be told. Perhaps because these are poorer people from poor countries. My point is these testimonies are just as important. I am from the 🇺🇸 USA. My grandpa fought 4 years in WWII in the navy. I’ve always been interested in WWII. I still have my grandpa s dog tags. My I ask how you got out of the Japanese camp?

My wife’s father was taken by the Germans when he was only 4 years old. He fit the Aryan profile since he had blue eyes and blond hair. His mother appealed with cries and whatever you can imagine to bring him back. Fortunately, the German authorities in the town she lived in agreed only after pressuring her to sign the Deutsfolk list. She had no choice. After the war it was estimated that up to 200,000 Polish kids were stolen from their parents, only around 30,000 were returned. Most Germans have no idea... most don’t care. Germans never paid a dime for the destruction of Polish cities, towns,.. murdering Polish intelligencia ...systematically, I might add. I don’t blame the younger generations for anything... But there is still a wound in the Polish soul, even though it happened almost a century ago. Greetings.

@@hetman3196 Almost 50 years ago I met an elderly Polish woman in a ghetto nursing home where we used to help the visiting priest celebrate mass. A woman named Sophie, used to always ask for cigarettes. One day I noticed a tattoo on her chest (in an era before women got tattoos) and I asked what it was. She opened her dress and I read the German word: Feldhuer, in English :Field Whore. I knew what it meant and I gasped:What happened? She told me that she lived in a little village, a Jewish Shetl but her family were the only gentiles. (I forgot the village's name) She told me that Germans came into their village early in the morning and got everyone out of their houses and shot stragglers and then some of them grabbed crying infants from their mothers' arm and bayoneted them and any woman who fought back. Then they began burning the houses after they were searched. The village rabbi was shot in the head and his wife. Then everyone else were thrown into waiting trucks and were driven to the nearest town were they boarded a train for Auschwitz. At said camp they realized that Sophie and her sister was not Jewish. They were both thrown into the brothel on camp and the other sister was later sent some where else never to be heard from again. Sophie was later brought to New York City to be a governess for some polish artistocratic family but they abandoned her and somehow she ended up in Cleveland. I tried to find out about her sister and talked to a Polish priest and he said that there still tens of thousands of missing people, fate unknown. I have up and had moved to a different area. Later when I returned to Cleveland I attended one Mass at St.Jan of Kanty parish. At coomunion time I asked the grey haired man sitting next me if he was going to communion. He said No and showed me his tattooed number from Auschwitz and told me: I can't go to communion. I am damned. I cannot forgive the Germans what they did to us.... After liturgy I sat and wept in my car and prayed for him and his family.

Dziękuję Wam za to co robicie. Jestem z Dąbrowy Dolnej, to dla mnie ważne by ta historia przetrwała. Kobieta, by uratować swoje dzieci, przytykała im nadgniłe ziemniaki do twarzyczek by choć trochę chronić je przez żarem i dymem.

Very powerful! I went to Europe in 1960 to see for myself some of the "camps" that many of my Polish family were sent to and never left. I was raised with survivors and told stories of the horrible things done by the nazis. The elders told us they were not telling us these stories to have us think they were some kind of special people but to have us understand that it was our responsibility to not let this happen again. For that and personal reasons I served in the U.S. military and as a police officer for 50 years to do what I could to stop people from hurting others for no reason other than their hatred of people like them. One big difference between America and other old world countries, European nations did not commit genocide to live where they live because they have been there from the beginning. America was founded on the genocide of Native Americans being pushed out of their land to a point where all they have left is a few reservations and no power at all. ALL who've been through any war has suffered, lost family members, relatives, neighbours, friends, their homes, their livelihoods, etc. No story surprises me. I do know one thing about ppl who lived through wartime is this, they are never the same again. To witness war, death, shortage of food, and their nerves takes its toll on them. I think that although they have physically survived, but a part of them on the inside has died already. I know of soldiers who went through WWII were introverted and had very little to say.
