Thanks for sharing. We live in the Netherlands and we’d like to grow palms indoors. I have a few questions. In the first stage how do you keep the moss moist? Do you spray with water now and then? Do you have to ventilate now and then or do you keep the box closed? And secondly, when do you know you should pot them; when the germination process is far enough that you could pot them in soil? Thanks!

Great video and information! Thank you! We have two in our front yard. Both bloomed at the same time. One had 3 big clusters of nuts. The first low bunch dropped and now we have about 30 shoots coming out of the ground beneath the Palm. I’d like to collect the next bunch and germinate. How long can they stay in the special tall pots before needing to be transferred? Thanks again!
@TheCfkingfish
6 жыл бұрын
I would say they could stay in the tall pots until their leaves start to split maybe the 4th or 5th leaf. They can stay there longer but they risk the chance of stunting or rooting into the ground

Thanks for the videos, I'm germinating about 100 bismarck seeds. They popped on me sooner than expected, after about 2 weeks. Need to order pots, and was curious if the Stuewe pots are the 5"x5" or 4"x4" pots. Will the 4" work, they are 9.5" deep. or is the 5"x5"x12" significantly better? Thanks PS: shame KZitem deleted the DM feature.

It is possible to take them out, but you must dig a large hole, because the root will be very deep. You cannot break the root or the Bismarck will die, they are very delicate when young. If you do it gently it should be okay.

Thank you for the quick reply. I appreciate the info. Yes they are fertile. The green ones i collected will they turn brown & become useable seeds?. All the brown seeds on the ground by the moma trees seem rotten. I also collected some seeds from i belive sylvester palm they had purple friut i peeled off & found nice seeds inside. another beautiful palm seeds i collected i belive pinedo. The seeds had orange fruit i peeled off & cleaned found nice seeds inside. Im experiancing different results with the bizmarck seeds. Its always been my favorite palm. Im confused about not finding a seed inside the berry or maybe the berry is the seed. Lol. I do have some gardening experience but none with planting bizmarck palm trees from seed. A lil discouraged but I wont give up. Maybe the green berrys are to fresh & the brown berrys are to old. Or the brown old rotten looking berrys are the seed itself? Lol. Idk. 😎
@joeymaggadino5565

Perhaps the brown seeds not fretile? There are about 5 males & 4 female bizmarcks growing close together. I would assume they would be fertile but all the brown seeds fallen appear rotten with no seed inside. My luck i guess or maybe my inexperience
